We go through our recommended best settings for Samsung’s 2020 QLED TVs (including the Q80T & Q90T) to obtain the highest picture quality (up to 4K@120Hz) while maintaining low input lag when playing games on the PS5 (Playstation 5) or Xbox Series X next-gen consoles.

The QLED we used in this video was the 55-inch Samsung Q85T which is equivalent to the Q80T in the USA.

This video was graded and uploaded in HDR10, and so is best viewed on an HDR display. Please let us know how it looks to you in the Youtube comment section below.

  1. Do these recommended changes only effect the HDMI 4 port for gaming or is it for all HDMI ports on TV. Reason I ask is I want to do this to get better quality from my PS5 gaming experience but am worried those settings may not work so well when just watching TV or movies. Could someone please let me know?
Also I love your vids Vincent!

  2. Which is the better setting when using hdr content..(contrast enhancer) or the (st.2084 setting) I normally use contrast enhancer to keep my hdr movies/games from being so dark..but Im curious as to know if the st.2084 adjustment is better for a dark hdr picture. P.s all my "expert settings" are done correctly

  3. Okay my brain is fried from trying to optimize my samsung q90t for hdr ps5 calibration… If a game runs at 4k 120 sdr (cold war) and a game runs at 4k HDR how in the heck am I supposed to enjoy SDR content AND hdr content without having to recalibrate the ps5 hdr settings everytime I go back and forth between games?!?! It's my understanding that calibrating for HDR games will leave SDR games looking wrong. What is my option…isnthere a way to just enjoy 4k 60 with HDR for newer Gen games and avoid having to always recalibrate? Is that where I'd change performance to graphics mode in ps5 settings?? All I want is 4k 60 HDR for most games if it means having to having to recalibrate all of the time. I'm so bloody confused please help!!!

  4. Thank you, Vincent, for all the efforts and for putting up with some comments down below …
As others as well, me too would be very curious about best settings in SDR and HDR. Maybe also for some two point white balancing 😉

  5. Can somebody please help me? If I select VRR on my Series X, the Q90T will create some scanning backlight effect all around the display. I need to turn it off, in order to get rid of it

  6. No matter what I do settings wise with my Q80T, the picture of HDR content just stays so damn dark as soon as I turn Game Mode on. I've gone through this video and mirrored the settings and even messed with the HDR calibration of my Series X watching the other video and no go. The only thing I can do to have it be even remotely playable and see is to turn on Contrast Enhancer to High but then I start to see weird stuff like the reds on Eivor sash in Valhalla "bleeding" into the colors around it and makes this weird blotchy red glow.
