So what exactly did Sylvanas mean when she said ‘This whole world is a prison!’?

In the Shadowlands cinematic Sylvanas told us that this whole world is a prison and in the most recent Shadowlands story trailer she told us that through the Jailer we will get back control of our fate.

These two sentences are incredibly interesting and in my opinion could be the key behind the mystery of the Jailer, Shadowlands and the Eternal Ones. What is Sylvanas is right and the afterlife of Warcraft really is a prison, an intricate mechanism that we can’t choose to abandon with our free will.

I’ve previously covered what I think about the Maw and how it is not what we once thought it was, but this time I thought I’d expand more on my theory on why I believe Shadowlands is a prison.

  1. Here's something to ponder, a lot of the races on azeroth were originally titanforged before the curse of flesh, yogg saron claims the title of the god of death because before his meddling, there wasnt death for the titanforged. Odyn gave his eye to be able to peer into the shadowlands and decided no, I dont want my servants to go to this afterlife, Im gonna make my own, why? if its natural, if its right, why would odyn do that?
Souls is the currency of azeroth and for years we had different forces trying to take their share of the pie

  2. I can very simply answer every question you will ever have about a story in WoW. Simply put the writers are horrible, blizzard seeks out the cheapest and hires them. They have said before they cannot please their fans so they don't try which is why the movie was such an abortion. There is no meaning and no greater story to anything they do they are simply horrible writing packs who are basically hired out of the Pennysaver.

  3. Honestly I believe the Jailer made a deal with a Voidlord, a very specific one which is now within Torghast. Something to the tune of The Jailer would absorb Azeroths powerful world soul and use that power to bring the voidlord into the physical realm. The others found out about this and restrained him to try and stop his plan. He then bargained with Denathrius to use the Nathrazeem to continue his plan by smuggling his artifacts unto Azeroth.

Failures met with contingencies and so on.

  4. Maldraxxus' task isn't to fight against just aboms and skeletons. They are defenders of the Shadowlands from all threats within and without. This includes all the other cosmic forces. The House of Eyes even spied on other forces in the Cosmos, such as seeing Draka stealing battle plans or some other form of intel from a stronghold on a Legion controlled world.

  5. thats true, sylvanas saw the maw once in a close to death experience or something like that, she saw ther ´´void´´ and she didnt like it, so what she doesn want is to go to ´´hell´´ when she dies for real, thats the only thing that scares her.

  6. What if the maw is the only actual real and intended afterlife. Wasnt there a whisper that said somthing like "the boyking sits at the masters table(the jailer) 3 lies will he offer you.( the 3 fake other after lives)

  7. No, she means Azeroth is a prison. Not Shadowlands. She wants the Jailer to replace the Arbiter and judge people based on their power, favoring the strong and culling the weak. At least that's what I get from her actions and personality.
I have the same personality type as Sylvanas. But I hate her. I can't wait to put her to my sword. I hope her soul will be trapped in the Maw for eternity. She deserves the worst.
