Sentinelsstar Shahzam called out Riot over the small prize pool for the Valorant Champions, saying he was disappointed only 1 million dollars was at stake in the biggest event of the year.
Saying that co-streamers like Shroud would make more off of the Valorant Champions event than the actual players, Shahzam said the million dollar prize pool pales in comparison to the top prizes in other big esports. To his point, CSGO Majors this year have all had 2 million dollar prize pools, and even Call of Duty League Champs had 2.5 million up for grabs despite the league’s struggles.
Shahzam said that the Sentinels are training their ass off every day and traveling across the world to compete, and he could make more staying at home and co-streaming on Twitch like Shroud. When some fans fired back against Shahzam, he said that while he might be financially well off, the Sentinels had a much bigger platform to push for changes that helped everyone, and that if they hadn’t spoken out about practice conditions they wouldn’t have better desks and better machines for all the teams.
So is Shahzam right, and is just using his bigger platform to help the smaller Valorant teams make more money, or is this just a case of the rich wanting to get richer? Let us know in the comments below!

Lmao okay bro. What a clown.
It is true though you shouldn't make more watching a tournament than actually competing in it. Riot can 100% put more into the prize pool with the cost of skins. Having the champions bundle is cool but they could of given us a lot more chances to build up the prize pool. Give the community more ways to contribute besides a 60 dollar bundle. They've gotta make more things at the 5-10-20 dollar mark like animated player cards with your favorite teams or players or team gun buddies ECT.
Riot doesn't really focus on prize pool anyway. Even in league of legends, the biggest esport, the prize pool this year was only 2.2 million. They focus more on salaries than prize pool.
give me that 1m imma convert it to ph pesos its 50 million anyway 😀
wen u play a not so popular title .. wtf do u expect ur prize pool to look like … warzone/apex/halo/bf/ ect … get bigger prize pools cuz those titles bring more eyes n money… very few ppl even give a fuck at all about valorant
1 million dollar prize pool is minuscule compared to other top tier gaming tournaments. Look at Dota 2 had a 40 million dollar prize pool this last TI.
Bruh riot should donate 50% of all their bundles to the pros who GREW THEIR GAME. The price of 5 guns skins?! Lmao 250k
i mean come on Valorant is a dogshit game looks like shit plays like shit, shit if it was a physical entity it probably smell like shit to.
lol, upset about the money for playing a game. fucking children. getting real sick of these people trying to bitch about things like money when they already make 10x more than your average person whose job actually contributes more to society than entertainment.
Halo Infinite prize pool is 3 million. Streamers make 1million a month.
The prize pool is 1mil but it's 350K for first split between, the teammates, coach, manager, and the rest of the sentinels team. Not really alot of money.
Apex did this first though with the skins
isnt dota 2's prize pool completely funded by players or am i getting it wrong?
Valorant isnt worth pennies, which is why their prize pools arent insanely big lmfao get a grip bruh
Complain more dude, you make more than that in a year.
Honestly, I'm surprised it was 1mil.
Nobody cares about Valorant lol
In time, the prize pool will increase. Just wait until there’s fans and what not. There’s gunna be a lot more money to be made. It’s still the beginning but I don’t blame Shahz for feeling the way he does, it’s honestly just timing tbh. I’m not worried about valorant.
It's hilarious bc the reason why he went to Valorant in the first place was bc he was never good enough to make the big bucks in CSGO lmfao
he shud b greatful for valorant by all means!! he wudve been stuck in a tier2 NA team in cs talk about privilaged smh
Insane how entitled you can feel from that spot that a million dollars is considered not enough.
I just hate the fact that they over price skins and then have this type of prize pool.
For a shitty game like valorant I think 1 mill is good.
Dogshit game and dogshit developer , why would it be payed more?
Idk why Shaz gets so much hate. Dude seems pretty straight forward and makes sense most of the time.
Compared to previous masters events, the prize pool barely rose at all for champions, so I get it tbh.
But ofc there's still the money from the champions skins which we don't know how much it'll be
these guys don't have anything to prove anymore. sad to say but they are just focused on money now
convenient for everyone to sit at home and expect the best in the world for a particular field to want more than an average life
