Should you main a Brewmaster Monk in Shadowlands?

Brewmaster monks have the smoothest damage profile of any tanks in Battle for Azeroth but lacked some of the self-sustain and DPS of other popular m+ tanks. Are they still the cream of the crop for raiding and leave room to be desired in m+?

In this video we talk about the strengths and weaknesses of BrM tanks, go over covenant and legendary choices and then outline the talent builds for Brewmasters. The big picture is that BrM has been given a bit of self-sustain, a slight rotation change to be more active, and little else! They will still be excellent damage sponges but lack in DPS and still are a little short of self-sustaining.

  1. I am considering switching from Paladin to monk for SL, mostly because I am not a fan of holy power. Just recently hit 50 on a new one and got a legendary cloak, and tried Headless Horseman. He's fine until the pumpkins spawn, then I find he's taking huge spiky damage. I'm using ring of peace and my big 6 minute cooldown to survive. My paladin, who granted has much better gear, his health doesn't move. Any tips to help with the "many whelps, handle it" scenarios?

  3. Thank you for your tip about picking a well rounded tank! I am considering a tank as an alt, and was debating picking up brewmaster – but after what you said I may give that a second thought. I really like the idea of picking a jack-of-all-trades class

  4. quality out of control. subbed. positive attitude. lets people know playing wow is about what you enjoy and not what is best in a +15 key or mythic raid progress. quality. keep it up

  5. I really enjoy the presentation of you your vids. Simple Information without a lot of drama and distracting cheesy graphics. Thank you. I’m in the same boat as far as tank leveling order. Prot pally first! Then my BrM. Lookin forward to you future videos

  6. Just how simple really is brewmaster tanking? Everyone always says the easiest tank is Druid, followed by paladin/demon hunter. How much more complicated and difficult is brewmaster? How many moving parts are there in comparison to Druid tanking? How much is there to juggle while also having to pay attention to boss mechanics? If Druid is considered a 1 in terms of tanking difficulty/complexity on a 1-10 scale, where would you put brewmaster? Lastly, is brewmaster at all effective in battleground and world PVP, or is it pure trash for all PVP? Would greatly appreciate any/all answers and knowledge.
