Ret paladins are consistently middle of the pack in terms of overall PvE DPS. They specialize in burst windows and are perennially viable in raids and dungeons though rarely the top choice for the RWF and MDI crowd. Retribution is no exception in Shadowlands — they are fun to play but not quite the top DPS at the moment.
The great news is that they are close enough to be in the hunt. With correct play you can absolutely compete against any other DPS and offer value to your team. The covenant choices are all close — but let’s be honest you should be playing Kyrian because both Bluther and Divine Toll are awesome.
This guide goes over covenant choices, legendary powers, talent builds, and gives an overall recommendation on whether or not you should play Retribution Paladin in Shadowlands from beta information.

Post filming/editing of this video there was a slight nerf to Relentless Inquisitor, slight buff to execution sentence and a nerf towards a popular paladin covenant. Nothing really changes from the video — but just to keep in mind!
