  1. The Skul mechanic looks great, but I will wait until the game has a way bigger sale. Roguelites are my favourite genres because of how long it takes before it gets repetitive – but even most of the steam reviews for this game are under 15 hours.

And, across many Youtubers I've watched playing this game, it's so obvious that the room layouts are lacking.

Expected more from this game :/

  2. Im sorry, but what you said of the game becoming a gamble to get the big legendary skulls is simply not true (or at least not what i've experienced within the game). I do agree that the grim reaper is definetly over powered, and almost a free win if you get it, but especially now that we have upgrades to common skulls, i feel like you can reach the endgame with literally whatever you so desire and you will do just fine! There are some incredibly powerfull upgrades like the legendary version of the spear skull or the clown one, and some quite meh legendaries like the fighter one. Anyways, i enjoyed the review, just thought i'd chip in with some thoughts… (Just for measuring purpouses, ive played the game for around 20 hours total)

  3. I've played it a lot since the release, I do agree with most things except the necessity of Legendary Skulls, once I understood the patterns of the bosses, it didn't matter much if I had crazy RNG, I only needed to dodge, thats all.
I've beated the game a few times now, and I noticed that in some runs, there were some builds that were so OP that I didn't really felt any difficulty on some bosses, not with legendary skulls, but with upgraded ones.

  4. wait…. he know's that literally any skull in the game can be made into a legendary… right? pretty sure you having trouble with the bosses is a skill problem.. don't mean to sound like an arsehole but… you can make the basic skull sword into a beast that your entire run revolves around. learning the patterns for the first few bosses is crucial, because after act 1 you can easily make most skulls viable via the spider chick.

  5. Put about 20 hours into the game and this is my two cents; The core gameplay loop is great and addicting, but it relies on cheap unavoidable damage a lot of the time as a substitute for a fair challenge.

  6. Your first con is due to you not using your options. Every skul can be upgraded to legendary and even then there are many more win conditions than “getting lucky” stacking the right items for your skuls, playing around essence, playing around swapping, buying the right items for the part of the game you are currently in etc…
