It was looking like a slow news week until 8 years of Cyberpunk 2077 mystery finally unfolded. The current state of the game on PS4 and Xbox One is poor, and with everyone requesting refunds on Sony’s restrictive PlayStation Store policy, it’s caused them to make an unprecedented decision. Removing the game from the store, and offering full refunds to any owner that asks. So you know, we kinda touch on this story. Also where is PS4 Pro? Is it discontinued? Perhaps. There’s some PS5 news here also but you probably knew that. You’re a smart cookie.

  1. Will any of these consoles finally get a price cut, I mean it's Christmas and still nothing even after a next gen launch, these manufacturers are really trying to screw us at this point, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro and the base systems are still the same

  2. Good news on the Pro, in a way. When it comes time to sell mine to fund a PS5 I'll probably get another £50. In the meantime, if you want to upgrade your base PS4 nows the time

  3. Idk man I love my PS4 pro. Cleaned it up, changed the thermal paste, put a shiny new SSD in it. All good to go. Still haven't played a lot of games yet, such as the yakuza series or ratchet and clank. I'm gonna keep it for a while 😉

  4. Sony made the correct decision to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from its store. If a product is not fit for purpose, then gamers are entitled to a refund. Sony clearly reached a breaking point where so many people were asking for refunds, the process was draining any gains made by selling the game and were starting to make a loss. A dev has to stand on its own 2 feet and produce a product worth buying, but CD Projekt Red were clearly too ambitious and pushed the game to the max by using brute force PC coding. They used the PC version to generate hype and ported it to consoles that could not handle it. They hid the product on console so people bought it based on PC hype. It was a con and Sony are not playing that game. The game should have been delayed a year to fix bugs on PC, with fully optimised ports for PS5 and XBSX. No last gen ports should have been created or sold.

  5. Many people compare disastrous launches as equal. They are not. The reasons differ. No Man's Sky ran perfect at launch. I enjoyed the game but it lacked the content that was promised. Creating extra content just takes time and the dev delivered over time. Fixing a game that is unplayable because it's too ambitious for the platform to host can never be fixed. You can make small improvements via patches if it's almost there, but when it's unplayable on the scale of Cyberpunk 2077 on last gen, then it's impossible. Some games fail at launch bedause they are boring due to lame content, but this is the first time a dev has had the cheek to release a game that looks interesting to play but the thing is unplayable. The product is not fit for purpose. Sony have to make a stand incase other rogue devs want to try similar in future. CD Projekt Red built up a good reputation, but when you con customers, you're a rogue dev.

  6. Remember Phil Spencer telling everyone that crossgen will be fine, and the XBSX won't be held back by linking it to last gen. He cited PC scaleability as proof and I call it out. Cyberpunk 2077 has quickly proved me right. If hardware is outside the range of scaleability, the game won't run on it. PC scaleability is quite narrow and fine tuned using the quality settings. Games on PC have a minimum spec, so gamers have to upgrade if they come up short. No PC older than 5 years can run Cyberpunk 2077 properly without an upgrade. The XB1X cannot be upgraded. That means if MS want a game to play on the XBSX and XB1X, they need to gimp the ambition of the game structure so that the XB1X is within the scaleability range. Cyberpunk 2077 is the first next gen game that is outside the scaleability range and the next gen consoles are just running the last gen port in brute force mode.

  7. Steam have a good automated refund system, which I've used twice. You are allowed 2 hrs of gameplay to decide if the game is what you'd expect.
Sony needs to have a similar painless refund system, if they want to push for digital distribution.

  8. Sony intended to go full next gen straight out the gate. Pushing games beyond what the PS4 Pro could achieve. They intended a rapid adoption rate by making next gen games exclusive to PS5 and ease the transition via PS4 back compat. But that failed due to C19 and scalpers. Most PS4 Pro owners who want to upgrade to PS5 are stuck on PS4 Pro, so Sony has had to scale back the exclusivity rate in the short term. This will negatively impact next gen games in the short term. It's interesting that Sony were unfortunately forced into this position, but MS deliberately chose it as their default position for Xbox.

  9. I’m dumbfounded how well all the older second hand PS consoles are still selling. I sold my original PS4 for $400 AUS dollars ($300 US) just before the PS5 came out. And that’s only $50 less than what I paid for it 4-5 years ago 😳

  10. I would like to start with I was with MS for over 20 yrs. I put up with Xbox one for six years of consoles that never worked right. I borrowed a ps4 slim and have had no problems. Thinks I could do in The Wild Hunt, The Witcher was now doable. It’s a fantastic RPG. So I want to give CD Project the benefit of the doubt. They probably had a good game, but then came the new consoles. I’m hoping they Where denied access to the ps5. And only had a brief window of getting the game ready for the new consoles. And their reworking the game fracked it up for the older consoles and new. I wish they would have caved to press for the release. This company has taken care of their fans. They didn’t go to loot boxes to make a bigger profit. I just put the game back into the box. And wait awhile till they get it right. I’m sure they will get it right. In this modern world of screw people over for your piece of the pie. Keep up the good work.
