  1. Sony's games were already profitable even if they don't make as much in sales as they cost to produce because imagine how many less people would buy PlayStations if those games didn't exist and then Sony wouldn't get those PS plus subscriptions or that cut of the sale price of third party games. Of course more revenue is never bad and being able to show that the games are directly profitable really helps justify them within Sony the company but it's still the case that first party exclusive games don't need to make more in sales than their production cost to be profitable for a company.

  2. They will inch closer to day and date but probably never quite get there (maybe a couple of months off) so they can say it's not actually day and date to appease their more fervent fan base lol

  4. Sony is finally coming to terms with the fact that the total console market simply isn't growing. The console user base hasn't grown much in the last 20 years. Most of the gaming revenue is on mobile and PC. So in order to make money they will start releasing their content where the players are.

Microsoft figure this out a few years ago which is why they began releasing their games on PC and also why they have spent so much money developing Xcloud. It's all about expanding the user base as much as possible.

  5. I hope they go to pc day and date, originally because it would be a massive win for everyone from pc gamers to console gamers and for sony and its studios. But now i just want to see the pony's cry 🤣😂

  6. This could mean the PS5 Pro is not coming.
This is good because Sony will have driver support for the DualSense.
This is good because I can use my 4k@120 monitor with DisplayPort. The pickings are pretty sad for HDMI 2.1 with most brand new models are not coming with this standard. In addition there is 240Hz.
This may be bad because the PS5 SSD controller currently is superior to any PC hardware. Will those games remain exclusive until PCIe 6.0 or its potential be nerfed?

  7. I’ve always thought that all games should go to PC, if not on release then eventually. Some people want to play their games on the platform with the highest quality possible. You can only get that with PC. And while it is a competitor, I would consider it barely a competitor. They’re making more money putting it on PC then leaving it off

  8. Think PlayStation is slowly putting their exclusives on PC to attract PC gamers to buy a PS5 I could be wrong, I play and like both consoles I mostly play PlayStation nowadays because Uncharted. I was a heavy original Xbox and Xbox 360 gamer and I switched to ps permanently in the PS4 generation cause the exclusives. At the end of the day the PS5 and the Xbox series x are both amazing and I’m gettin both

  9. Sony doesn’t innovate they just copy . Eventually reviewers are gonna get sick of playing the same recycled 3rd person game over and over again. They are just trying to make all the $ they can and you know good and well Jim Ryan knows most ps gamers aren’t happy about this. PlayStation has no exclusives!!!!!
In this world of big boys out there throwing $ around buying up mega popular devs Sony doesn’t have the resources to compete. I doubt they will have the guts to copy gamepass or do pc games day and date. They will just keep making a third person game with a antihero protagonist that suffers a heart breaking moment that’s out for revenge. I could write that crap over and over again

  11. Microsoft and Sony have very different circumstances. Microsoft has a very deep interest in the PC platform and shaping it's future. For Sony, PC is just another platform for them as a third party software publisher. It's a way of realizing maximum ROI for the IP they own. This is why I greatly doubt Sony is going to bring any new AAA title to a non-Sony platform day and date with their own lead platform of the moment. It will be similar to paying a third party for a timed exclusive on a title always intended to be multi-platform. Six months to a year is more than enough time to assure the bulk of full price sales will be on your platform and raise its value in the eyes of enthusiasts. The difference here is Sony doesn't have to pay for this privilege and reaps all the profits from the later releases on non-Sony platforms.

This is no radical shift for Sony. They entered the console business as a third party software maker. They even tried to push their technology through an established brand, Nintendo, rather than take the risk of creating their own top to bottom operation. When it turned out Nintendo didn't play well with others, they committed to it and through innovation like allowing Japanese stores to micro-manage software orders on a weekly basis, they became hugely successful. (Sony understood some critical aspects of CD-ROM that neither Nintendo or Sega, long accustomed to mask ROM, did not and leveraged that to great advantage.)

Sony will find their own balance, and it won't be a copy of Microsoft's IP policies. Likewise, Nintendo will continue to be Nintendo, keeping their IP closely held and available solely through Nintendo platforms. Considering the ongoing sales of the Switch, despite severely dated technology, this appears to be working fine for them.

  12. Zalker, lol. You make it sound like Xbox is doing something extraordinary here buddy. In reality however it only makes good business sense being Windows after all is a Microsoft product and a terrific gaming platform. I am sure any company developing a game today would want to look at maximizing their profits being large titles are so expensive to develop for and produce. It used to be the console space was a walled garden but times are a changing my friend. Streaming for example is a great way to get your games out to as many customers as possible without really needing any special hardware. Now I am sure consoles will be around for the foreseeable future but streaming can and will take gaming where the console itself couldn't. So in the end do I think Sony is copying Xbox, NO. They are just doing what any good company would do by watching and adjusting to the current market to stay competitive along with increasing their profits. Only fanboys would view this as something Xbox would do or Sony. I for one would love their first party to come to PC as I do Xbox. I can finally stop having to buy any console hardware and just use one device a PC. Disclaimer, Nintendo would be the exception, lol. Still would need a Switch.

  13. PlayStation fans need to understand that Jim Ryan is laughing at them while they religiously kiss his A$$, he doesn’t give a damn about ponies loyalty, or bragging about “winning” a console war, he cares about Money; so to PC the games will now go..!
