  1. it is to be expected that some mobile games will start dying with how saturated the genre of F2P mobile games is now, one can only play so many games a day, and they all seem to fight for your time with limited events and the like

  2. I loved this game when it was on global it was one of my favorite mobile games and when they canceled it I was hurt. But mostly I love the games and so2 is one of the best RPGs ever made.
But I can't say I am to surprised its getting canceled in JP for all as old of a IP it is the series is very niche IP and isn't the biggest or most loved series.

  3. The one good thing about SOA's shutdown is that they'll be putting in an offline patch so we can still view the story and our characters (with the exception of some collab ones) even after end of service.

It was a wild four and half years. Square Enix has really been killing off their smaller mobages since 2020. With this and Valkyrie Profile mobage gone, Tri-Ace has nothing going on now.

I don't think any other mobage made Sugita and Mafia playable characters.

  4. I stopped playing the JP ver nearly two years ago cause I saw how this was going to end.

For one the franchise had declined in popularity and SO4 and 5 were conflicting at best, disappointing at worst and the large gaps in development and lack of cross promotion into the more popular Square Enix's IP's caused it be be forgotten in the west

SOA's battle system seems fun on the surface until you see that it boils down to hitting and dodging with difficulty depending on just how MANY aoes the boss is programmed to throw out.

The character roster was leading to a dead end since they put so many characters as a 3 and 4 star and NOTHING you do will improve their gimped stats which leaves you with 5 stars with a limited ammout of times you can release them in a different class, I think Maria and Rena were nearly in EVERY available class to the point they created ANOTHER class to allow them to release another version but this have its limits.

The previous collabs helped to not make it noticeable but with how long it took to release games AND the declining interest in the franchise the only thing that kept me playing as long as it did was the nostalga…

Oh and the story feels forgettable or maybe the non ingame way of playing out the "scenes" or the lack of emotional range on the faces I just can't put my finger on which one

The game had a INSANE amount of equipment bloat

Just release Star Ocean 1 and 2 on mobile and I'll be happy

  5. Such a shame, I really liked this game on GL and still think it is the best gatcha game that has ever been released. Like seriously it had decent 5* rates, free daily draws with a chance at a 5*, a mechanic that let you farm the premium currency for the gatcha, great collabs, full and beautiful character models in battle, interesting story, a mechanic to fully unlock characters without HAVING to draw them multiple times in gatcha. Like seriously, the game was so F2P friendly I don’t get how it wasn’t more popular. I think they should release it on something like Apple Arcade just to see what happens and remove the gatcha mechanic or at least be far more generous with the premium currency. I mean, what more could they lose at this point?

  6. I loved this game and played the global version. Problem was, the global version wasn't really global. It wasn't in the EU Playstores, had to use QooApp. There is a large market for Star Ocean here in France but the mobile games.. don't get an official release and thus no marketing. There is another Star Ocean mobile game out that is kinda going down the same route now. Again, no marketing and no EU release x.X I'm afraid it's gonna fail too
