O…M..G! Where has this man BEEN ALL MY LIFE? I've been trying to find the PERFECT MAIN for myself in all of the Smash games for many years and I think Sephiroth has FINALLY laid my search to rest. I got this awesome angel as soon as I saw his EPIC Ultimate trailer. As soon as I saw him, I literally screamed like Dad from Fairly Oddparents, even if I had NO IDEA who this BEAUTIFUL silver-haired guy was. Heck, I think Sephiroth truly made me fangirl a thousand times for him and even Joker's reveal didn't get to me like the one-winged angel's did. I mean you have Sephiroth FACING OFF against Bayonetta, Greninja and Cloud after he toyed with Mario. I don't think I've ever seen an Ultimate trailer with that tossed in!
After watching Sephiroth's trailer, I was truly fascinated by him that I watched his reveal more than once and it felt like I was watching an actual movie instead of a reveal trailer. I knew I FINALLY found my new main in Sephiroth himself. As soon as I finished up the December 2020 Sephiroth Challenge on all three difficulties, Very Hard, Normal and Easy, in that order with super heavyweight Bowser. Sephiroth was at 15HP and I was at 10HP and he came charging at me but I grabbed him at the last second and finished him off with Flying Slam. I had to try A THOUSAND TIMES to get this character in because he kept beating like crazy and his A.I. was NOTHING I have NEVER seen before in the CPUs I've faced in Smash history. But I FINALLY unlocked him after my fifth try and I was smiling like a fool.
I immediately took Sephiroth to Training and I practiced with him for many weeks nonstop in order to get comfortable with him. Once I did, I played with him in Smash Mode and Tourney where I surprisingly won with him. If I have to say this, I'd say that Sephiroth is a BLESSING to the Smash series and he's A LOT of fun once fully mastered. I've seen Pyra/Mythra's reveal trailer including the other DLC guest stars' trailers and all I can say to them is 'meh'. They didn't really impress me unlike how Sephiroth's reveal trailer did. Joker's WAS impressive, but it didn't have that excitement like the one-winged angel's did. And that's saying much. Plus, people were STILL going CRAZY after Sephiroth's reveal, which I've NEVER seen when Joker was revealed. Of course, I don't blame them. That trailer was EPIC and AMAZING and all MOVIE-LIKE, having a BATTLE on top of that, being remade in the same battle Sephiroth and Cloud had in the Advent Children movie.
I KNEW Sephiroth was the PERFECT main for me and that he had been waiting for me ALL THIS TIME. It was NEVER Joker as I had originally thought. The legendary one-winged angel has been my brand new 2020-2021 main for a VERY LONG time now, ever since I picked him up on Sunday, December 20th, 2020 as an early Christmas present after beating the December 2020 Sephiroth Challenge.
Heck, I even CELEBRATED his December 2020 release by throwing a New Years' Eve party for him by playing Ultimate with him all day long and drinking Orange Fanta. Thanks to that, I've gotten over 3000+ Meteor Smashes with him, more than ANY OTHER character or newcomer to date in my history of playing Smash Bros. And those Meteor Smashes keep skyrocketing as we speak. I've NEVER gotten that many Meteor Smashes with ANY character, so this actually marks Sephirorth as the first-EVER DLC newcomer to get me that many.
I also use Sephiroth for World of Light and the Spirit Board, including the DLC Spirit Board along with Bowser, even in the Final Battle where I use Bowser, Sephiroth and Blue Yoshi. For the Spirit Board and DLC Spirit Boards, Bowser is in charge of Rodin, the Infinite One, Chun-Li and Akuma while Sephiroth is in charge of Sirius, Karel and Aerith. I previously had Elise equipped to Sephiroth for Auto-Heal but I switched over to Aerith once I got her from the FF7 Spirit Board. I also witnessed Winged Form for the very first time during my Spirit Battle against Tifa, which was the COOLEST moment EVER!
Sirius and Karel gives Sephiroth double the strength of Weapon Attack Up, which makes him VERY dangerous while Aerith heals his damage automatically, making him difficult to defeat. Plus, he makes getting the Legend Spirits A LOT easier, too. All in all, Sephiroth is probably the most LEGENDARY, the most DANGEROUS and enjoyable character to use for Ultimate as he's easy to control unlike the other characters once fully mastered.
FINAL NOTE: I have NEVER had this much fun with a character as I had with Sephiroth, not with Joker, Blue Yoshi, Dark Pit or Falco. Ultimate was the game that actually introduced me to Sephiroth and the FF series, NOT the FF series itself and that's when I came to love it this year. Sakurai and Nintendo have TRULY done a BEAUTIFUL job on the one-winged angel, even going so far to give him the red carpet treatment. Pyra and Mythra's trailer weren't all that impressive and I know that these last two won't have that same energy like Sephiroth's did. I didn't get that full excitement from them like I did with Sephiroth. I don't plan to main them any time soon, but I AM planning on facing them with my brand new main. I also plan on getting EVERYTHING later. I chose Sephiroth first instead of Steve because Sephiroth just looked more interesting and he just drew me in immediately. This character has truly been a blessing to me ever since his debut and I thank Sakurai and Nintendo for working on Sephiroth and everything they've done with ALL of the Smash Bros. installments, including Ultimate. Sephiroth has been leading me to victory in a brand new way in 2021. Thanks to his legendary inclusion, Fighter's Pass 2 will be shutdown with a bang.
Sephiroth is the GREATEST Christmas present I've EVER gotten! For Tourney and Smash Mode, I use Sephiroth's blue outfit and coatless costume. I just switch back and forth between the two of them each time.
