In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we theorise about the second great war.

  1. 6 really needs to have imperial generals and councilmen who aren’t afraid to admit that the thalmor really did puppet the empire for so long like we did with tullias and rikke and balgruf. It was something I sincerely enjoyed to see that even some of the most devout people were genuinely angry at the thalmor for treating something they cared about like trash. It’s honestly something I enjoyed immensely

  2. One fun idea for ES6 could be set in a future where the Almeri Dominion has won, and you have to be a pivotal part of the resistance breaking their hold on Tameriel before they do something even more monstrous than usual, like destroy the towers if your theory is true

  3. As a long-standing Imperial Boi, I am a bit nervous as the outcome of the 2nd great war. Tamriel under the thalmor would be a pretty grim place. I dig the cosmopolitan vibes they hate so much

  4. I kind of think there won’t be another Great War.

I think the way they will go is Skyrim being nominally independent but the Empire still claiming it and there being a protracted conflict.

I think the main conflict of ES6 being a combined force of Hammerfell and High Rock against the Aldmeri Dominion, with Cyrodil too busy holding together their current holdings to really concern itself with conflict with the Aldmeri and perhaps Cyrodil siding with the Dominion as a means to “keep order”, perhaps under the promise of regaining some lost territory, but I favor my previous guess at them being too busy in Skyrim to focus on a Great War. Hell, given the weakness of the empire, who knows what Morrowind is going to do going forward. Perhaps they leave the empire because Cyrodil can’t do anything about invasions from Argonia, and then Cyrodil will be way to busy to worry about a war with the Dominion.

So maybe that’s a second “Great War” but it isn’t exactly a continuation of the Great War that predated Skyrim.

Another idea would be Skyrim gaining independence and then turning to High Rock and taking that, doing some war crimes against the Bretons like they did in The Reach. Then they work together in a tenuous relationship with Hammerfell against the Aldmer, but there’s a feeling that the next conflict will be the Nordic empire vs Hammerfell, with the winner of that conflict being able to easily take Cyrodil and form a new “empire of men”. If the Nords win it is all out genocide against the elves. It would go from Skyrim belongs to the Nords to Tamriel belongs to the Nords.

  5. The scenery and architecture that Bethesda has created for Tamriel has definitely given me inspiration for building a home if I ever win the lottery. The stone work of the buildings is magnificent. Particularly the flow of water through some of the holds and castles.

  6. Imperial ships have cannons, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Imperials were researching firearms following the war to the point they have arquebuses (Proto muskets) during the next War. The amount of carnage a war involving firearms and sorcery is unthinkable. It's also faster to train a solider to shoot crossbows or firearms.

  7. Would be cool to see altmer priests(Idk if they have vigilants of stendarr) run a bloody inquisition of the thalmor, putting up a strong platform for those altmer in summerset opposed to thalmor. Feels like if you're altmer there, you're pretty much stuck.

  8. No matter the outcome of the civil war, the Nords will be preparing for war and in truth it might have been less about faith and freedom form the Empire, then it was about ricing heroes preparing to stand up to the Thalmor even if it meant weeding out their own who had gotten comfortable and lazy.
It is easier for the elves to scheme against a united Empire then it is to have eyes everywhere and humanity does not have to be united in peace to take up arms in war against a common enemy.

  9. The Thalmor are a very interesting faction to me. Hopefully in ES6 we can interact with them more, either as active adversaries or even potentially aiding their nefarious agenda for Tamriel. Ushering in a new Merethic Era, or even crazier, succeeding in undoing creation to ascend to godhood. On one hand, the Thalmor are evil, but to the credit of the Altmer and overall all powerful elven civilizations, they reached technological peaks that are unmatched in the present era.
