Gaming headphones are a rip-off. Way overpriced, garbage tier mics, with even the sound quality being generally poor for the price. Also you're paying for features that don't even work, like 7.1 "3D" sound, which has been debunked time and time again. For the same price you can buy a real mic, and quality headphones, and walk away with a far superior experience.
Astro A50 Gen 4 will work with the XSX in a few different ways (1 way via USB only after a firmware update, and a couple of USB plus optical workarounds). Should be your clear winner going by your own ratings, right now (if not considering price).
Also, you guys need to get your hands on the Arctis 7X and the upcoming MS headset.
Or… Wait for the official Xbox one.
Of you're going to get any set of Astro's you might as well get the byerdynamics MX300 Gen 2's. They are wired but sound and mic quality is excellent.
I'm waiting on the new xbox headphones dropping next month for $100. You won't find a better deal with all the features they have. I wish this video would've had a pair to test.

So I can use the astros mixamp with a series x without the optical and still get the same surround sound as before? I do not want to use the dolby atmos software, I'm talking about the surround sound you get from pressing the button on the mixamp.

Astro a50 gen 4?
Correction needs to be made. The Astro mixamp and A50, the Dolby and EQ's do not apply when using USB from the console. Astro is aware of this and they plan to update it. For now, it's a straight passthrough for whatever headset format you pick in the Xbox headset audio settings.
So the astro gen 4 a50 aren't on here? I'm go return them lol doesnt make sense why the 2019 wired is on but not the a50?

I wouldn't recommend the 9x anymore. They frequently disconnect from the Series X and there is sound stuttering. This seems to be a common complaint in forums and online. I purchased the 9x this month and will be returning mine because I've also experienced these issues firsthand.

Why no mention of Astro a50 for series x? They not better than steel series 9x?
9X is definitely my favorite with the BT since I like gaming with music & their very comfortable. Only downside is they tend to cut out a bit at random times.. still my favorite though.
