  1. The Adjust 3D Audio Profile has nothing to do with intensity. Each option is a HRTF profile that the user should select based on which one sounds best to them. It essentially adjusts the level of how high or low 3D audio sounds relative to ear level

  2. For video games DTS > Dolby
Even Shadow of the tomb Raider sound better and more immersive on DTS , even though the game is sound engineered with Dolby

Basically when I run it on Dolby bitstream, the sound is flat and chaotic
But on DTS, the sound is more rich and focused

    For reference:
I have a sound bar that supports Dolby atmos and dts:x (Sony ht g700) and I put ps5 settings to av receiver and 7.1 channel settings and bitstream dts

That Jaguar couldn’t sneak up from behind me anymore, I heard it in the back, I turned and arrow to the face!
I can also hear the helicopter from above and I can feel the pressure that the helicopter’s emitting, which was amazing! It was the first time I experienced something like that on my sound bar

  3. I have Pioneer elite Dolby atmos receiver and the thing that I've noticed is that no matter what sound settings I choose on the ps5 in games that support 7.1 like last of us 2 or God of war it won't let you select 7.1 in the game sound settings but my ps4 pro hooked up the exact same way will. Has anyone else had this issue?

  4. Hi Caleb, and thanks for the good video. I have a TCL R635, PS5, Vizio M 5.1, and Arctis Steel series wireless. All good, however sometimes when I play the sound will stop in my headphones and go to the controller or TV soundbar, then after a minute or so, comes back to the headphones. Its maddening! LOL. I will double check all my settings again and cable routing. I believe its all the same as how you did it. If you or a fellow user have any insights they would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work and come on 1M!

  5. Although you said why you prefer bitstream Dolby when using an AV receiver, I’m trying to understand why. From what I’ve read, the PS5 cannot transcode DTS to DD, so when you are choosing to bitstream Dolby, you’ll either get no audio or stereo, depending your setup. I’ve always read to keep the PS5 on LPCM for AV receivers.

I will agree with bitstream Dolby especially now when a lot of manufacturers are doing away with DTS but not with an AV receiver.

  6. One thing that irks me on the speaker positioning with 7.1 is it doesn't let you designate the rear surrounds as tops instead. I haven't noticed an issue because of it so far, but theoretically you'd get sound that's supposed to reflect something behind you instead coming from overhead if you have a 5.2.1 setup. I can't decide if it's better to go with that, or just select the 5.1 option and let it ignore the top speakers entirely.

  7. I have the Q90r qled and Q90r soundbar do I need to set the option to AV Reciever or Soundbar? When I put the Audio Format to Bitstream (Dolby) or Bitstream(DTS) there is a delay? But when using Linear PCM there's not? Please help.

  8. Can you use such sound bar as an external speaker for running Spotify on my phone via WiFi without turning the TV on? I’m still hesitating between a good amp + 2 speakers or simply one sound bar for the TV, console and music listening (small room).

  9. I have a TCL R617 55-inch, and the 46-inch Vizio 5.1.4 sound bar. I don't have an XSX or PS5 yet, but on the PS4 Pro, I plug directly into the sound bar. If there is any lag, I don't notice it. I've been conflicted because I don't watch movies on the PS4 (currently use the Xbox One X for that) so for games strictly, I have been unsure whether LPCM or Bitstream is better. Any time I've read about it people say LPCM for gaming and Bitstream for movies, but more recently I've been curious to know if it really matters when it comes to games.

If I do, do Bitstream gaming on PS4 I choose DTS only because I've always read that DTS is better than Dolby Digital despite what Dolby said. I will say, LPCM on some games does not work as well, like RE4 HD. The audio can cut out some of the first actions taken, until it registers. It happens on Nintendo Switch too which is LPCM. Aside from that single game on PS4 though it has always worked fine. Also, I don't use optical anymore, but is there any difference in quality between the "basic" Dolby Digital and DTS when using HDMI over optical?

One of the only things I don't understand is quality and whether LPCM or Bitstream for gaming on PS4 and then PS5 is better. I've tested it and I'm not sure I can tell a difference, but regardless want the best possible sound experience. It is also interesting to note that games, when using LPCM assume I am using 7.1. I kind of understand why that is, though am also curious if choosing 7.1 in games like TLoU2 is worse than 5.1 considering I don't have 7.1.

  10. Bad info on choosing DD5.1 or DTS. LPCM is the correct choice as DD and DTS cause audio delay and are lossy.

Blu-ray audio playback is handled separately, so you get the best of both worlds.

  11. Soundbars are getting very good, and I enjoy headphones a lot (everyday) but for gaming and movies, I'm all about a legit surround system with full-size speakers. But is that a dying breed?

  12. If you have a soundbar dont put it in soundbar I know that this sound idiotic but to have the best sound quality with a soundbar connected to your tv just go with AV just check it out and thanks me later, btw this was not pull out of my ass I did research about it

  13. I run PS5 to TV HDMI input and then all TV audio to 5.1 receiver through eARC. I used God of War for testing & tried messing with all the settings I could on all 3 devices. Basically, PCM gave me weird tinny flat sound but there was no audio delay. DTS gave me great sound but comes with a very slight delay. Headphones work just fine, but all 3 devices are Sony (ps5 / x900h / dh590) and I can't believe there isn't a working combination of settings to eliminate the delay and give me good sound. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

  14. So use linear PCM for the PS5 headset?
The sound bar I have is the Sony HTZ-9F with rear speakers. It has both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. When using the sound bar which should I use, Dolby or DTX?

And then switch the setting back and forth as I switch from headset to sound bar?
