The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Critique Commentary Part 8

Greetings one and all to a realm of commentated videos where I essentially critique a wide variety of games that I have enjoyed not just thoroughly, but also enable a high level of creativity in some form to make the experience special for me to talk about!

So, experiencing the ‘real finale’ (that is ACTUALLY the penultimate episode at that!) right here, a brief return to the previous episode of visiting my miniature mansion in Solitude, Proudspire Manor, which didn’t hold what I was looking for BUT did contain the other two magical sets of armour that I had before in the form of the Ebony Armour called ‘Daedalus’ and the Daedric Armour set known as ‘Icarus’, (if you paid attention to what my highest-tier armour, the Dragonplate Armour, is called then you’ll know there’s something of a connection akin to that of the famed sci-fi dystopian cyberpunk game that is Deus Ex, THE classic original and all!) I quickly travel to the unusual Dwarven city that is Markarth in an attempt to locate this one person of VERY high interest!

Ah well, despite having checked FOUR different houses by this point, (from Honeyside in Riften to Proudspire Manor in Solitude, then a VERY brief visit to Hjerim over in Windhelm before heading off to the intriguingly-designed Vlindrel Hall in the Dwemer city that is Markarth!) I’ve still yet to find what I was looking for to show, although I do manage to locate that damn Icarus Shield that has seemingly found it’s way ALL the way in a shield section of my own Dwemer household instead of the fancy villa over in Solitude, but alas this is a Critique Commentary look into Skyrim and not a proper playthrough like normal, so…

…In an unexpected twist of events, we go WAY back from being an epic Level 58 master adventurer, down to being in my early mid-game days once more, in front of the Temple of Mara in order to locate ‘The One’ that I am so desperate to show off before concluding my saga here, just a damn pity even THIS save didn’t make a good job of highlighting where she was as I got sidetracked into fighting a dragon on-route to where she lives and getting myself killed in a fight I had no business getting involved in over at the Dragon Altar that is Lost Tongue Overlook, (including a rather cunning Souls Gem trap that WILL kill you quite easily if you pass by it on the way up!) thus wasting a whole bunch of time for both myself and the viewers of this video here!

All that disappointment asides, it does give me plenty of room to discuss one of the more intriguing aspects of Skyrim that it’s predecessor, Oblivion, sorely lacked in the form of ‘love’ itself solidified, that being the concept of ‘marriage’ via marrying one of several dozen male/female NPCs across the whole world.

Thankfully I wasn’t one to look up quests and the like in my earlier days of gaming, so I am quite relieved to say that, for all things considered, my choice wasn’t too bad as far as the Argonian warrior goes!

Essentially the gist of how one gets married is to converse with one of numerous said NPCs, get to know them better in their respective village/hideout/cave, do a few quests for them and then present them with an Amulet of Mara (purchased by the various priests of Mara throughout Skyrim) and see if they accept it or not. Some are likely harder to win favor over than others, but I suspect they’re all winnable given enough time, practice and skill, so long as one doesn’t recklessly murder various innocents and ruin dozens of quests like I did during my murderous thieving rampage days back in Oblivion where some towns like Anvil and Bravil were absolutely WIPED off the floor as most NPCs were killed by me alongside several hordes of deceased guards!

Still, all of that asides, there’s one final part left to Skyrim before the series has concluded, and boy do I look forward to wrapping this mini-series up right here!

In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
