The Evolution of Fire Effects in Videogames

Next to the wheel, fire is one mankinds greatest technological achievements. Also in Gaming, the hot element has always fanscinated us. Game developers have spent a lot of time, to make flames look more believable. Beginning with Super Mario bros, where fire was just a simple sprite moving from a to b, we move forward through time, to more recent games such as Assassins Creed Origins or Red Dead Redemption 2 where fire is a detailed simulation, illuminating it’s surroundings and spreading according to the laws of physics.

  1. This channel is going downhill.
There used to be some cool ass state of the art graphics shit on here, but lately
it's just been a pile of shit!
I'm gonna give it one more chance and if it's a pile of crap next time… unsubbed. Goodbye!

This was a waste of everyone's fucking time!

  2. Some of these are not great comparisons. Matching one art style to another negates it.
Monkey Island to Aladdin was ok, but also different art styles.
Doom 2 compared to TR2 and then TR3 was a good comparison, with Zelda not being a good comparison.
But top down GTA2 to 3D Max Payne? c'mon.
The semi-realistic graphics of HL2 to Crysis was a good comparison, but then you went off with cartoony low end on purpose WoW to HD semi-realistic graphics of FarCry 2? Wtf
