My idea since the beggining was that those were the phantoms or something like that that were trying to allert the crying child of what will happen but the kid would be too scared and try to escape them and when they catch him he doesnt understand what they are really saying

ok but that doesnt really make sense with what fnaf four is, Michael hvaving nightmares about him murdering the crying child (i know it isnt fully cannonized but then how would have he drawn nightmare fredbear in the survival log book). i always saw nightmare as the crying child, michael fought the thing that killed his brother now hes fighting his own manifestation of his brother
