While Disney Channel’s story-driven era of Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House is about to end, there are still some worthwhile shows looking forward to. Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur puts a fresh spin on a superhero story, Hailey’s On It introduces an adventurous to-do list, and Kiff celebrates a wild town of oddballs.
Disney Channel’s current lineup consists of The Owl House (with one episode left), Hamster & Gretel, Big City Greens, and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. None of these shows are particularly known for their long-running continuity and story arcs, but they’ve still managed to gather passionate fans. With Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Hailey’s On It, and Kiff, will Disney Channel’s future be bright?

Which Disney Channel show are you looking forward to the most? 👀
Disney have is flaws but we can always count on their animation
I loved how there was always a story-driven show that succeeded another story-driven show. Star vs. the Forces of Evil succeeded Gravity Falls; Amphibia, The Owl House, and Ducktales as well (although it's less story-driven), succeeded Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
Amphibia and Ducktales have ended, and The Owl House has one episode left. After that, I guess there's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, although I doubt it'll become as story-driven as the other shows mentioned here.
However, if we don't limit ourselves to Disney animated shows, there were also many more story-driven shows: Steven Universe, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Infinity Train, Tangled: The Series, Wakfu, Ben 10, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Invincible, and more that I can't think of right now.
Some animated shows currently going on are: Helluva Boss, The Legend of Vox Machina, RWBY, Murder Drones,
And coming up we have (adult) animated shows like Hazbin Hotel, Mighty Nein, and Invincible season 2.
While there aren't any spiritual successors to Gravity Falls, Star vs., Amphibia, or The Owl House on the horizon, I am optimistic that within the next 2-5 years there will be. I hope there will be.
I'm not really a fan of primarily-episodic shows like when I was younger. I really love overarching stories and narratives, with awesome antagonists, magic, sci-fi, and fun and lovable characters. I can, without a shred of doubt, say that Gravity Falls, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Steven Universe, Amphibia, and The Owl House are my favorite shows of all time. They have all drawn me to their characters and immersed me in their stories. I've loved every antagonist, every main character, and every story.
I know that there have to be many people out in the world who have an idea for a story-driven show they want to make. Whether inspired by the aforementioned shows or not, I hope the future of story-driven animation will be bright.
I'm personally looking forward to Hazbin Hotel the most. It captivated me with its pilot, and if Helluva Boss is anything to go by, I know that the team won't disappoint with Hazbin Hotel either. We've been waiting for so long, but this year the wait will be over, and I'm incredibly excited! It helps that I'm a sucker for antagonists such as Bill Cipher, Discord, Emperor Belos, The Collector, etc. Especially those with voice effects and/or British accents.
I swear to you I thought of an Idea for a show like Kiff when I was like 6 years old and when I got slighlty older wanted to make it and release it on YouTube.
disney truly is winning rn compared to cn and nick. they have more variety than, and knows what good shows are compared to the both of them. i used to watch all three but nick and cn have ruined themselves while dc is rising
In UK I don’t have Disney channel anymore since they removed it on cable
Is really nice to see that in during times seeing cartoons getting canceled, Disney is still making original cartoons that people will love to watch.
Kiff looks like something similar to a nickelodeon show….
The Future Of Disney Channel…….
Kiff looks like amazing world of gumball
I feel like im gunna love MoonGirl tbh
There's the style and there's the voice acting.
Now I'm hoping ,yet ,sure the story will be fantastic
To finish the sentence…promising! Now why can’t Cartoon Network try to bring out some good stuff.
Nickelodeon: Spongebob Spongebob Spongebob Spongebob
Cartoon Network: Is heavily focused on reboots and Teen titans Go!
Disney: New Series with Epic story and Plot
Who are you supporting?
I definitely look forward to Kiff and the other shows.
Kiff is basically Bluey for adults
I am really curious to see if The Owl House or Amphibia or even BOTH shows will have a spiritual successor. Ya know like Gravity Falls opened the path for these two sister shows, who says that they can't also open the gates for other shows in the future.
The squirrel from your thumbnail looks like something from happy tree friends
I have a younger sister who is still in her early todldler years and I just want to say that I would be really happy if my sister grows up with these new Disney channel shows and a lot of other shows! As someone who was restricted from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon as a kid only being allowed to watch the same episodes of Mickey Mouse, I am thrilled!
It is very refreshing to see something new and I am looking forward for what’s to come.
Kiff looks like a adult cartoon show!!!!!
Disney still beats cartoon network and Nickelodeon shows!!!!!!
PETER MANHORROR MOVIE IS CONFIRMED!!!
LOOK IT UP!!!
We love to see it when the original Disney shines through the corporate shell 🙂
Hm, how very interesting, I guess we’ll see how these will turn out.
I don't know I absolutely hate Hamster & Gretel cause it so boring as for the others I'll…..🤔😖…give them a shot maybe there be good
Nickelodeon At least the animated Loud House is still fun and enjoyable (it's taking forever for it to return from Hiatus)
Cartoon Network is still decent with Craig of the Creek
I’m so excited for the ghost and mollie McGee season 2!!!
The Future Of Disney Channel…….
Kiff reminds me of Harvey Beaks
That's sad when you know… Disney channel not exist anymore~ Yeah, Disney+ exists but how about can't afford Internet streaming with low Internet connection.
I mean the new shows all look good but once the April (assumed date?) storm come…
There will be nothing left
I will have nothing to watch
Then I wait for the once every other month episode of Murder Drones
why do i want to watch Hailey's on it more than Moon girl… i like the animation but idk Hailey's on it seems a bit good i hope its the type of show in which they do the most normal things to save the earth..
idk how thay works but i will probs not watch it if her to do list is stoppinh bad guys and stuff…
Moon girl and devil dinosaur looks awesome tho
I hope this doesn’t fail like Naomi did!
Kiff sounds like Disney's version of The Amazing World of Gumball
I do hope they bring out good cartoons or maybe bring back one of them like for example Randy runningham for example and including other good cartoons
Isn't that the dino girl from Marvel Runaways 💀
I am very proud of Disney's Kiff cartoon being made by people from my home country South Africa☺
While Dream-works Is destroying Disney on box office they never fail with their shows except some but we don’t talk about them
I never thought I'd see the day when Disney is the most original and daring of the main children's networks and Disney Channel is better than Disney's movies.
