Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, played as intended, is absolutely fantastic—its 1:1 recreation of earth is a technical masterwork. That said, I was interested in actually exploring that world beneath its beautiful cloud formations—what I found was absolutely not what I expected. Here’s the story of how I accidentally managed to turn Flight Simulator into a walking sim—how a seemingly simple shift in perspective led me on one of the wildest journeys I’ve had with a game in some time, uncovering things about Flight Simulator that I never thought I’d find. It also got me thinking about intended play, game preservation, speedrunning and, well… my own place in the universe.

  2. Here is the lore behind msfs2020: all of humanity is gone. A massive earthquake destroyed thousands of buildings. once bustling streets with storefronts was now a giant heaping pile of rubble from the collapsed buildings. Self driving cars now drive endlessly until they break down. those that have broken down are now turned to stone. In places where there isn't debris, nature has taken over. Humanity has been gone for 30 years.

  3. You should check out Space Engine for a very similar experience. You can experience an entirely generated universe with many real celestial bodies or nearly infinitely created ones. You mostly fly around without a body but you can go on planets and walk around in a similar way to this video. I find it fun to land on random planets and look around

  4. I wonder if the Flight Sim World can be shared with other simulators. Driving, Hiking, Sailing, Farming, all sorts of Battle Sims. And as those Sims optimise the Earth for their needs, those additions leak back into the other sims.

And then you can jump from one Sim mode into another. Get out of the plane, drive to a station then into a train.

    Microsoft Sim Earth.

  5. Respectfully, I think your first and possibly biggest mistake is to think of MSFS 2020 s a "Game" rather than the simulation of reality it is intended to be. I believe that other REAL pilots out there will understand this.

  6. 0:38 Crazy system requirements? What? I have a 5 year old computer using 6 year old technology and i'm getting 30fps+ with pretty good graphics. Anyone claiming this sim has "crazy system requirements" either hasn't tried P3D of FSX before, or has unrealistic expectations.
