League of Legends and Arcane are both owned by Riot Games. Jinx is owned by Riot Games. I do not own League of Legends or Arcane, and I do not represent Riot Games.

  1. I love Arcane, I really do… but Jinx really fell flat for me.
I have no issue with wanted a more complex character to descend into craziness, but the way it was done felt like the most basic shit in that regard.
I would have preferred if she was just crazy from the start, because that character trait has been long gone just to make things more "complex" but ends up just stream lining. Mental disorder don't only appear from experience, but also can be innate. Having tragic X Y Z backstory is fun, but it doesn't fit the whole Jinx vibe, just like it would fit Jhin if he had one.
I am glad we have more lore of her past, but I would have preferred more innate psychopathic traits, or even bipolar traits to show the gradual descent into madness Jinx falls into.
This is just Harley Quinn 30 years later, and that's not interesting, especially because Jinx is my main since her release.

  2. I doubt, once the hype has died down, that there will be much momentum left in Arcane, because truth be told, while it is impressive and flashy, they don't really have any new or interesting ideas. It has been pretty boilerplate and predictable so far, a 3/10 story with 8/10 presentation.

  3. Glad to see fellow anti-pro-play sentiment from some people on popular videos! I still remember when I finally stopped reading the league subreddit because 95% of it had become about following pro play which I found very boring. The game seemed a lot more fun way back when.

  4. gonna have to be honest. while i commend rito for making that anime and doing creative stuff like this, as a die hard fan that was there from season one, i personally found arcane to be BORING. for me, i already knew the story of vi and jinx and starting from when theyre kids made it even hard to relate to as an adult now. i mean we're already coming up on the twelfth season of league. TWELFTH. thats time for most people to have grown up into an adult. to me, arcane seems to be targeted for kids and maybe for those that dont know the old lore of league since they stopped pumping out lore and seemed to have shifted to pumping out skins. either way, i personally couldnt get myself to watch more than the first episode, with me wanting to just skip over to when theyre adults, though from the way arcane started, i can already imagine the oversimplified politics and drama that will ensue, because i think theyre targeting kids as a way to bring in new players. ill prolly try to finish arcane when its done airing but i dont see me changing my mind anytime soon on this. animation is really good though. truly accurate to league i feel. just wish they went with some other crazy lore thats already out there, though it might be considered old lore.

  5. Not exactly a bad video but it feels a bit shallow. I mean the style is obviously video essay and maybe I've set my standards too high but when I listen to video essays I want substance, something to think about. This seems to moreso be stating the obvious. Yes, the show is getting tons of praise. Yes, the show is reaching a massive audience. Yes, league has been getting more and more stale with each update. Yes, the focus on the pro scene has been harmful to the main playerbase. Yes, the lore that is being explored in the show is new and not just adapting already existing lore. But what about more in depth thoughts on the quality of the show? Plenty of terrible movies and shows get plastered with praise. What about some speculation on the effect this show could have on the game or Riot as a company? I know all that is much harder to make but it's just a bit boring when I come to a video essay and all that is being said is surface level observations. Nothing to get me to think.
Now this isn't to say you shouldn't make video essays. I personally think it's very refreshing variety and if you like making them I would wholeheartedly recommend you make more of them. It's just something to think about.

  6. Riot has come out and said they are already planning future seasons and shows purely based off of how successful launch was. IIRC as of yesterday the show was no.1 on Netflix in like 30 countries.

  7. The show is a masterpiece. I was really hyped when they introduced jinx and vi as the main protagonists bc my mains in the game will get s seat. Dude… my mind exploded… this is the best thing they could have ever done. I hope they will do more shows. Maybe a love story between taric and ezreal lol. Maybe even the stoey of lucian, senna and thresh? Dude… like really there is so much to choose from… Riot will see it too. We can just wait and enjoy this beauty bitch of a show.
