i think the difference is that the maw is a mediums monster while the others are monsters from normal people so maybe its a different ruleset…
Final one is what I pictured happened. I think she kills her sister even tho she didn't want to and I'm more curious now with her dads spirit and the future of the character. Really enjoyed the game it was more interactive movie then a game but I do enjoy games like this, enjoyed layers of fear from bloober and enjoyed games like dear esther, vanishing if Ethan carter. I think there's enough here to make a sequel if they wished.

I Think you need go do some more research because you learn that Marianne and Lillyanne is alive after the fire during the cutscene. Second thing Lily already tells you why shooting her would help making the maw disappear. Its because the spirits/monsters can't be destroyed when the host is still alive that's why Marianne can't make Maw disappear and that's why Lilyanne wants Marianne to shoot her so she can destroy the maw.
[EDIT]* Second thing the reason The Blob and the hound are still there is because they both are trapped like Spirit Thomas because of Thomas powers. When Marianne confronts Blob she calls him nothing and the Blob responds "Yes that's what I am now, that's what he left me as"
I also think that she does what Lilly wishes…she shoots Lilly. Another Evidence for Marianne being alive is that Marianne talks AFTER the Gunshot: „It all starts with a dead girl“… If she shot herself she couldn’t say that😉. … by the way cool channel👍
You have a misunderstanding. They never said that the spirit would die once the host dies, they said that the spirit can not die till the host dies. That is why the Maw spirit kept coming back after each time she thinks she killed it. Once Lilianne dies, Marianne will then be able to get rid of the Maw spirit.
i think the game should have multiple choices implemented at least only for the ending…
What if Thomas shoots Lilly just like her vision. The only version of Thomas she saw was the spirit and he said he didn’t feel the REAL LIFE Thomas presence. What if he shoots her and it saves Marianne. Also would connect with why the maw kept telling “sadness” that Marianne is the reason why she is dead in some parts of the story.
How do you know that Richard and Henry died ? The scene where henry is hit by the wrench, he is not dead. And the last time we saw Richard in the real world was when Thomas entered his head. He was not dead. This means that the monsters were still living while the host was still alive not dead.
You know that the whole game is just a narration from Maryanne's perspective because sometimes she says: " That was the moment when…". So she didn't kill herself.
Marianne is not that dumb to end herself.
she will think twice that it will mean nothing as the maw said to her directly. Ending herself will mean nothing.

It was probably Thomas who shoot Lilly, saving our narrator Marienne. It is mentioned that he could be still alive – this information is a hint.
