The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game that features patented dual-reality gameplay and an original soundtrack co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka.

Wield unique psychic abilities reserved for those with the gift. Travel between the realities or explore them both at the very same time. Use the Out of Body experience to investigate places where your real-world self can’t go. Create energy shields and deliver powerful spirit blasts to survive the spirit world and its otherworldly dangers.

Delve deep into a mature and morally ambiguous story, where nothing is what it seems and everything has another side. As a medium you see, hear and experience more than others, and with every new perspective you will change your perception on what happened at the Niwa resort.

Never-seen-before and officially patented gameplay that plays out across two worlds displayed at the same time. Explore the physical world and the spirit world simultaneously, and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events.

The Medium’s spirit world is a dark mirror reflection of our reality, a grim and unsettling place where our unpunished deeds, evil urges, and vile secrets manifest themselves and can take on a form. This world has been invented and designed under the inspiration of Zdzisław Beksiński’s paintings, Polish dystopian surrealist internationally recognized for his distinctive and strikingly ominous style.

Immerse yourself in the disturbing and oppressive atmosphere of the game thanks to the original ‘dual’ soundtrack co-created by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski. Yamaoka-san is a legendary Japanese composer best known for his work on the Silent Hill series; Reikowski is a Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominee who worked on such acclaimed horror games as Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and Observer. Now they join their creative forces for the music and songs of The Medium.

  3. The split screen really kills it for me. Same reason I skipped A Way Out. I'm not good at focusing my attention on two different things at one time. I know that probably says volumes about my mental state, but I have never been good at multitasking.

  4. Fair enough if you felt it was too slow. I got it through game pass and it's giving me a lot of silent hill vibes. Which is great since we're probably not getting another silent hill game so this will have to do.

  6. If you stop playing this then that's cool cowboy. I've gone further into the game an it does get better but coming from soulsbourne etc to this is a bit of a leap of faith. All good tho, hope you come back to it if u do decide to quit for now. 👍

  7. thought we might get more of a creepy factor like ghost shenanigans or something when the hell dimension became more common. The fact it remained a walking sim this far in is disappointing, I was interested to see where things went, but that pacing is way too slow.

  8. All good… this game definitely falls into the "cup of tea" category… if it's not yours, there's no need to force yourself… at least you tried it…

    The concept is certainly unique and the aesthetic is definitely striking… the one thing that annoys me is that… you can do "out of body" experiences… and yet, when you came to the stairs in real world (that didn't exist in the spirit world) you couldn't just "untwin" your physical and spirit bodies so you could go up the real world stairs? This just feels like a bit of an oversight… but it's very minor gripe from me… it has the CSI grunge and gloom in spades, at least…

  9. 2 min in and there is this slow ass walk. There is a difference between purposely taking it slow to be stealthy and slow walking to set a weird mood. Idk this game seems slow as fuck. Thanks for playing this so I didn’t have to

  10. I feel the same way about this game. Normally I like horror games but I think all of the hype with this one is only because it’s a Microsoft exclusive, the plot is a 3/10 at best and the split screen thing feels gimmicky and terrible
