►About the Game –
Discover a dark mystery only a medium can solve. Explore the real world and the spirit world at the same time. Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles spanning both worlds, uncover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw – a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy..
The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game that features patented dual-reality gameplay and an original soundtrack co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka.
Wield unique psychic abilities reserved for those with the gift. Travel between the realities or explore them both at the very same time. Use the Out of Body experience to investigate places where your real-world self can’t go. Create energy shields and deliver powerful spirit blasts to survive the spirit world and its otherworldly dangers.
Delve deep into a mature and morally ambiguous story, where nothing is what it seems and everything has another side. As a medium you see, hear and experience more than others, and with every new perspective you will change your perception on what happened at the Niwa resort.
Never-seen-before and officially patented gameplay that plays out across two worlds displayed at the same time. Explore the physical world and the spirit world simultaneously, and use the interactions between them to solve dual-reality puzzles, unlock new paths, and awaken memories of past events.
The Medium’s spirit world is a dark mirror reflection of our reality, a grim and unsettling place where our unpunished deeds, evil urges, and vile secrets manifest themselves and can take on a form. This world has been invented and designed under the inspiration of Zdzisław Beksiński’s paintings, Polish dystopian surrealist internationally recognized for his distinctive and strikingly ominous style.
Immerse yourself in the disturbing and oppressive atmosphere of the game thanks to the original ‘dual’ soundtrack co-created by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski. Yamaoka-san is a legendary Japanese composer best known for his work on the Silent Hill series; Reikowski is a Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominee who worked on such acclaimed horror games as Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and Observer. Now they join their creative forces for the music and songs of The Medium.

That mask isn't as good as the one in "New Mutants". I know the movie was terrible but I thought the smiley face mask was great.
Maybe next time Chris will lock Jimmy in a room.
This is really cool! Quite enjoying it. Looks great, story is interesting and intriguing, and I love the split screen of the two worlds. Can't wait for the next video.
This game is wild!
That Remothered joke… I hope I never see another game like it ever again
I think I didn't praised enough the gameplay under the last video. Dividing the screen into two parts kinda reminds me of all 90's attempts to create 3D VR game's by dividing them into two screens monitors. And Beksinski's themes are so vivid in the graphics, so distorted. Well, just like Beksinski and his family, all distorted human beings that I wouldn't feel comfortable to spend time with…
And now the Eastern-European Trivia part II:
01:40 I like what they did here. They use the old cover of a children magazine "Miś" (Little Bear) to make up a new one. That's very creative and it not hit so much the foreign player as of saying – Haha, we will throw you with million nontranslated things from our history of common life that won't be even translated to just have a satisfaction of that.
Anyway, the original magazine was published from 1957 to 2010 along side the children populars Płomyczek (Little Flame) and Świerszczyk (Little Hornet). I've explained the legend of Wawel dragon in one of my trivia's under the game "Someday You'll Return"
02:29 I will make a note here to make a praise for the devs to carefully translate all those old "social" and "leisure" posters to much the style of 70's and 80's and, accidentally I think, even 50's. Like in this poster of a travel bureau "Podróżnik" (Traveller) depicting old coach, although I still can't figure it out if it's an Ikarus or Neoplan.
02:39 Magazine Spring is in reality well know woman magazine called "Przyjaciółka" (Ladyfriend in exact translation) that is still published in Poland way back from 1948! Joanna Chmielewska that is mentioned on a cover was well known crime stories writer as well as more lighter genre's.
03:31 One of the guest's name is Smok, that would be Dragon. It's so hilarious………….. Ignore me…
12:36 Richard Tarkowski art poster. The fine piece of example of a famous Polish School of Posters that was found in 1950's and is still very popular among collectors. They were one of the proofs to the world behind Iron Curtain showing a genuine art in a socialist camp of the Cold War. Polish People's Republic authorities were very proud of them and do everything they could to promote them.
NOTE: That makes me think about a periodisation of events in the game. If exhibition was in 1982 and then we see Tarkowski guy on a wheelchair some time later so that would suggest the massacre would occur in late 80's or early 90's. Interesting from a historical point of view…
35:29 Very distorted photo. According to the first part we know that the so called Niwa resort was opened in 1969 and First Secretary mentioned in the plaque was indeed Władysław Gomułka who chaired the Polish United Workers' Party from 1956 till 1970. But this picture is a mess. In the center (4 from left) we see a distorted picture of somebody that looks like Edward Gierek. Gierek was a chairman of the Party from 1970 till 1980, his decade are connected with a massive economical boost and start of a massive economical decay, simply because of an enormous foreign (mainly US) loans his leadership made to make countrie's economy challenging. It was his trials that eventually led to start a Solidarity movement and the end of his carrer in a Party. Also his personal story was quite fascinating.
But, nevertheless this photo was also "hurt" from the other side. I have noticed the uniforms depicted here and I was preety sure this outfit was obsolete in late 1950's! So I keep looking and I found this photo in National Digital Archive:
https://d-pt.ppstatic.pl/k/r/1/25/12/566ab6bd19c1b_p.jpg?1467785250
On the photo we can see the very first First Secretary of the Party – Bolesław Bierut (1947-1956) a stalinistic era oppresive politician… And the riddle is solved now. I like how they put this random beardy 70's dude there 🙂
And that would be all….. for now….. More ramblings will come soon…… I think.
I am finding it fascinating that the spirit world Marianne persona is like a negative( with colorless hair etc) e of the physical world Marianne ( with dark hair) haven't watched this whole video yet so maybe this is explained ? Amazing game..
More! More!
Saw an ad for the game before the video, nice.
Awesome Chris keep it up
When you referenced a minigame in Mario Party, were you referring to Trace Race from Mario Party 4?
I am absolutely in love with this game so far. Looking forward to more!
I love that 1408 shout out with the mike enslin message. Much kudos!
I'm so invested in this gameplay series. Can't wait to watch it through to the ending!
Things are getting more mysterious. From what i get in niwa they did some sort of experiments on patients. Maybe for finding a cure but it might not be legal. Maybe the massacre happened for revenge for the bad things that happened there or to cover up for those said things. At the end there was some cover up since none bothered to solve the mystery up until now. Cant wait to see part 3.
More please luv this game
The split screen sequences are very disorienting for me. Makes me feel kinda sick.
This is such a unique idea for a game, loving it and your play through!! Can't wait for more!
I can not wait for 3rd part
Huh, Mike Enslin. Neat reference.
The developers of this game are creative. I'm impressed with the concept of solving puzzles in the natural world and spirit world.
Little Sadness is so sweet, mischievous, yet so innocent, she got me all sensitive about the story, I mean it is still very creepy but she added a lot of emotion to it
PD: love how Chris says "nice" and "lovely" whenever he finds creepy or gruesome stuff 😂
The flesh cutting reminds me of Silent Hill Homecoming.
CJU is my go-to guy for gameplay and walkthroughs…..he makes everything enjoyable; I always look forward to new content.
Good job!!
I wonder if dumpsters will be the "10 battery man" meme for this game haha…
22:19 that was WAY to abrupt, only 2 frames of something-something. I had to set speed at 0.25 to only pause the video. I watched closely the first time, but didn't see anything at all.
Bad part on the developers side
Does anyone else get the feeling that this character resembles Chris very much? (same feelings, same thoughts, same fears etc)
Waiting for Jimmy
This really, dissapointng, boring game… Supernatural boredom…
Nothing to do with horror genre
At least your narration make it bearable..
Marianne is quite the magnificent lady👌
This is such an amazing, beautiful game. I am so in awe.
Ghost shoes lol
I NEED the rest of this game like now! So cool and interesting, and your play style is the cherry on top. I check your channel daily hoping for the next part 🙏
Yay so glad for part two!
