The Mystery Of The Manor Moat | Time Team Season | Timeline

Investigating an archaeologist’s dream. An ancient moat has been discovered and no one knows what it once protected. Was it an early Welsh chapel, a Roman fort, a fortified cattle enclosure, or even the ancestral home of one of Wales’s most important families?

  1. "Please don't let this be a cattle enclosure" or some equivalent feels like a sentiment that's more frequent in archaeology . Yes, they're useful. No, they don't have middens and all.
If there are actual archaeologists reading this, is that a common thought?

  2. HELP…
if i went back in time using our current calendar to the year of 489BC.. if i asked someone on the street whats the date, how would they answer, cause in 489 there was no " BC " if i talked to Ramses's the great from Egypt what year would he say it was>> it was NOT 3500 BC during his time…its 2020, or 2020 years AFTER year zero which was when current time changed .
currently we count UP so if they counted UP what number were they at?? and how could Egypt and china have the same year calendar 5500 years ago. if you believe BC stands for before Christ.. UM??? CHINA IS NOT CHRISTIAN… calendars should all over the place..

  3. So basically, the Pritchards were trying to create a false history to increase their family status by building there…if they lied about the Family Estate history, maybe they lied about the genealogy too..js

  5. Finding a piece of UK's territory where literally nothing happened and nobody put one's foot or left remains of their presence between bronze age and the 16th century is, in that land's circumstancs – a one of a kind and amazing discovery of its very own sort, I must say.

  6. And here we have it, three days in the life of an archeologist. A dead horse, a moat that never was, a couple of coins, a tiny skrap of ancient pottery and much about nothing. Don't believe the movies kids, go to an accounting school instead.
