The MYTH of Male Gaze Gaming Movements

Video games have their fair share of issues… but gendered movement and male gaze dominated products are not exactly among them. While gender swapping two characters can make for a hilarious cutscene… it doesn’t quite indicate that the industry is facing widespread problems..

In a world where definitions and ideological positions are switched on a whim… the consistency behind “male gave” and “movement” in games is probably not a viable concern.

  1. Men and women move differently most of the time. Hell we even make different noises most of the time. When I sign or grunt, it’s more guttural and/or in obvious dismay… when my wife sighs or grunts or more orgasmic and gets funny looks.

  2. I think Anita is a very unhealthy presence in gaming definitely, but I have always found over-exaggerated feminine movements in games to be fan-service cash grabs. Obviously certain characters fit that role of manipulative (ie Cat woman) but there's tons out there that really are just walking advertisements.

  3. We need a all female Assassin's Creed. Apparently these fake gamers haven't played Liberation. 🤣 GTFOH

Also Capt. Jack Sperrow is based on Keith RIchards. Another guy.

  4. Yeah so I've realized too late that my whole life I've been labouring under the need for approval from feminist authorities who always said that a man acting feminine is good and progressive. All the gold stars of approval came from being girly and effeminate and publicly smashing down my manhood whenever possible. So that's all I ever did. Now I'm stuck in a life I don't want to live and I lay the blame entirely at the feet of these know-nothing feminist horse apples.

  5. This is kinda ridiculous. Wacth a random groups of guys talking in interacting with each other, then watch a group of women talking and interacting with each other. Their movements, reactions and interactions will be different. Put those groups together and have them interact with each other, and those differences will in most cases be exaggerated (especially if they are all single). Some of these differences are cultural, because the way a group of men, and a group of woman interact with each other is somewhat different different in different cultures (although there are lot of similarities). But the fact there is always a difference, means that something deeper than just culture.

  6. As a woman who busts her ass to sort people's mail I can assure you sitting like a guy in Destiny hurts after a short while. Getting a bit of air down there is great and all but it's definitely not worth the pain afterwards. Sitting like the female character takes more of a load off the pelvis than you'd like to think. I sleep on my side for that very reason, takes a whole lot of pressure of the lower part of my pelvic area and makes it so much easier to sleep.

  7. Sarkeesian said that because she couldn't see Batman's ass, gaming at large had a problem showing male flesh.

I still have the image of Snake's butt crack & balls burned into my retina from the opening half hour of MGSV The Phantom Pain, or Raiden being totally nekked in MGS2, or the male lead character waking up on the beach completely starkers in Death Stranding.

There are plenty of other games too, but I bring up Kojima stuff in particular as he is meant to be a 'Male Gaze' standard bearer due to his treatment of his 'Quiet' character.

This is proof that it's never enough for them and that equality was never something they wanted to achieved. Also why do they only look at AAA games when so many other female protagonist games exist?

  9. So she is upset by the lack of badass female assassins… like Ayame from Tenchu? This woman is a joke and she needs to stop talking, have been female assassins for as long as games have existed. Also in what way is the Last of Us progressive? It is about a large manly man killing everyone to protect a little girl, yeah really stunning and brave storytelling.
