U so right
I think they should have figured out the logistics before failing so hard lol idc, ill wait, but its kind of strange to see.
Another thing to consider, launching when they did, GPUs.
If the consoles came out a year later at these specs, it would be last gen all over again. currently these consoles are better than a majority of the PC elites GPU. In a year you won't have that selling point.
Other than that agreed. I have both consoles and the obligatory miles Morales and demons souls on ps5. But with a 3080 in my PC cyberpunk is owning my time. A game which for some reason doesn't have a ps5 or series X version. And despite having the 3080 I would have gotten cyberpunk on XBOX to have a physical disc had it been next gen.
Completely agree. An awesome console is meaningless if there is no new games to play with it or greatly improves the gameplay. I can wait a year at this point if there is no big games coming out.
I never had an 8th gen console. I want to play those games too and I wanted to do that with the PS5. Seeing the console being sold out even after more than 5 million units have been sold out and there's barely new stock coming to my country is infuriating as all hell
There's no point to buying these systems without new games to me i can wait until there are substantial games released. It's no big deal.
Every exclusive Sony released since the launch of the PS5 has been flops. Miles Morales sold less than 300k copies which is probably the lowest Sony has gone in years for AAA games. Microsoft didn't release any exclusives until this month which also sucks a lot. And to top it off the most hyped game in recent years (Cyberpunk which im loving btw) doesn't look great on either next gen systems. I love my xbox and my brothers ps5 lmao but they should've been delayed till this year of November because we're not seeing great exclusives and the xbox isn't even using its full hardware which is weird
It doesn’t really matter. My only beef with this newer gen is the Xbox series s. Cyberpunk should be a lesson. I think the series x and ps5 will be held back by it
My son who is 14 wants a PS5, when I told him it might not happen for a few months to a year, his interest when way down.
Valid point for the Series X and PS5
Series S????
I say OTHERWISE.
HUGE UPGRADE to Xbox One and One S (All Digital Edition especially!) Right now. The PROs outweighs the CONs
That's one point of view, I get the stock issues are a problem but personally picking up an SX has meant I get 4K graphics on games I would have played on PS4 or PC, I have access to Game Pass which has resulted in my wife playing through every Halo game split-screen with me, (normally she only plays Tetris or some mobile game) and myself playing and completing a host of games such as Ori, Jedi Fallen Order, Death Squared, a bunch of other Indies and I'm now trying out Forza and Gears games. I guess it depends on who you are, if you own a PS4 I'd say there is no rush for a PS5, if you own an Xbox One, again the SS & SX can probably wait a bit, but once again I find it odd that Journalists and YouTubers seem to think the only reason anyone should buy any console ever is because of exclusive access to software, that's just weird you want the industry to revolve around hardware paywalls do you? I don't…
Finally, I'll highlight the comparison to every other industry, why do you buy a new Phone, Tablet, Audio Device, TV, Laptop, Graphics Card, CPU? Is it so you can access media exclusive to that new hardware? No you upgrade for a better experience, whether that's loading times, more storage, new effects, or better fidelity, by the logic of exclusives you can only play on Xbox, there will never be any justification to buy any console ever again as everything will release on Windows PC.
MS really needs to change name of console. What's next Xbox series XX? Curious to see when games get upgrade for next gen how big of a difference it will really be. I believe Cyperpunk and AC are having free upgrades for next gen at some point.
Yeah I'm blown away by the stock I don't understand how you can back order anything now in 2021 but yeah no not a new console why is that these console manufacturers are doing that to allow these prices to inflate lmao but no the demons souls remaster you can get on PS4 so no ps5 exclusive games
The PS5 is just a upgraded PS4 and a downgraded Personal Computer
I have both systems and I swear I have watched Youtube on the new consoles more than I've played games.
Sony and Microsoft could have delayed the consoles but nintendo would have free reign with the switch for the holidays. So Sony and Microsoft tried to suppress the Nintendo switch sales but it backfired on them.
Honestly I just want the new PlayStation because this will be the first console that will buy before the next system is released. Literally I bought the ps4 a couple months before the ps5 was released
i have been saying they should have been delayed since the first week of release. I am already tired of next gen and i dont even have one. there was no special games, and the new ones that relased cross gen are bottlenecked to work on the previous gen. i am sick of the direction gaming is going. unfinished games that are updated after release, lootboxes, and just a toxic industry. the switch may be my last console purchase as i have other modded retro gaming devices and a gaming pc for any future releases. im just happy with what i have and i think will be 5 years from now unless something breaks in the mean time
I'm not an expert, but my wife works in electronics manufacturing so I've been learning a lot through overhearing Zoom meetings in 2020, lol. You wouldn't believe how micromanaged these supply lines are. These companies know exactly every last penny everything costs, exactly what percentage of units fail, exactly how long units will take to ship, exactly how much it will cost to store inventory, etc. Everything is so optimized, because in mass production, a difference of pennies can mean millions of dollars.
Therefore, I highly doubt they would ever just stockpile a huge number of excess systems for a product launch. The longer they hold onto inventory, the more it costs them, and the more it delays their revenue which they need coming in the offset the up-front development costs. Tech also ages insanely rapidly, often with lifespans shorter than their development times. If they had their way, they would probably sell them directly off the line as they were made. I think the main reasons they don't have to do with marketing. It's way more effective to sell products when you create a big hype machine and get everyone pumped up for a set release date than it is to trickle products out and hope consumers go out of their way to buy them. This is especially true for things like gaming consoles where much of the value proposition is around community and other network effects, not necessarily just hardware specs.
More realistically, I think they need to figure out how to sell systems to gamers rather than bots and scalpers for future console launches. That would likely solve a lot of their problems. I think the platform owners should just do more of a crowdfunding model for future platforms, but with the added option of linking an active gamer account which give higher purchase priority and a free annual subscription bundled in. That would greatly reduce demand for scalped systems, target loyal gamers directly, create a lot of good will with customers, cut out retailer mark-ups, and also gauge early production demand. It seems like a win-win all around.
Your first statement is irrelevant.
People obviously have a huge demand. Thus, the system is selling out left and right.
All I see is some dude whining.
Over 4.6 million Ps5 sold
Over 2million Xbox Series S & X sales
There is and has been so much stock.
5:16 there you go.
This is like saying why upgrade a pc graphics cards. Literally just for improved performance. It takes time for developers too take advantage of the hardware. The games come when developers use the hardware too the fullest.
i'm waitin on the 8 to come out
The medium for series x looks interesting towards end of year though. But yeah tired of games releasing Plato like shit then you gotta wait for the patches. Release that shit when it’s completely done!!
As a Series X owner load times are seriously fast, but with no exclusive games that are built for it I have to agree. Naming conventions for Xbox were completely messed up too lol
I love console gaming best and foremost buy due to tbe scalper bullshit, insane super high prices, and lack of games for my favorite console brand i chose a gaming laptop.i am still planning to get a new gen Xbox but after it becomes easily Available and with games
September October at this point
All that would happen if they delayed was this but in 2021. They would waited until June to begin production just like they always do. I have both and I won’t play on ps4 or Xbox one again. It’s totally worth it. Watch dog used the adaptive triggers which was Amazing. The quick loading and quick resume(series x) is fantastic.
I played Mass Effect 1 on the Series X all night, game looks more amazing than ever
Honestly If ps5 would have been delayed there would have been too many games launching at once which would affect sales cause its no way I would have bought horizon gow grand turismo demons souls ratchet returnal plus all the 3rd party games 🤣😂
