The PlayStation Situation Is Complete MESS… – PS4 Unplayable, Game Preservation Ignorance, & MORE!

PlayStation 3 has been the surprising subject of discussion in 2021. With the digital storefront’s clock ticking, prices are expectedly skyrocketing! However, what is more concerning is the lack of ability to update certain games from that library. PlayStation’s overall ignorance of game preservation is permeating into all of its generations. The PlayStation 4 has a major design flaw cropped up which will render the games unplayable both digitally and physically. All of this can be remedied through firmware updates, but past actions suggest PlayStation will be doing no such thing.

  1. The closing of the PS3 store is a little like the way that Microsoft has removed the app store for windows 8.1 phones. It would not have cost Microsoft much to keep the app store going on some old server, possibly with the ability to buy apps removed.

I did a factory reset on my HUDL tablet from Tesco supermarket about 6 months ago and discovered that because a Tesco web site was required during setup, it was impossible to use a reset HUDL tablet. Amazingly a few months later Tesco re-hosted the offending server and now you can reset HUDLs again. Sony and Microsoft should do the same.

I find that in retrospect the best Android phones for longevity are Samsung and Huawei phones that have a file manager, which allows you to side load apps into them without using the Google Playstore. What I find with Android phones with so called vanilla Android is that eventually they become unusable because they do not have enough internal memory to update the rather bloated official Google apps.

  2. just change the cmos battery before it dies, they aren't hard to open with a tutorial by your side. I did some much needed maintenance on my ps3 last summer

  3. The fact that they rejected the proposal for a Days Gone 2 in favor of LoU remake also pisses me off.. i preferred days gone so much more and it was extremely underrated. A ton of ppl played it 6m-1yr after its released but they arent paying attention to know. I think a lot of ppl would prefer a new game over a remake too, but sony is only playing it safe

  4. Sony's actions make their classic Playstation game prices basically on par with PS5 games. Maybe that was their plan all along? It's a questionable way to increase profits, but when a company is on top they aren't pressured to innovate or earn extra goodwill. Time will tell how that plays out for them.

  5. I’m glad I’m an Xbox gamer. They’ve put a lot of effort in to backwards compatibility so I can’t imagine them ending support for 360 games when they have put effort in to bringing them to the Xbox One. I do have a PS4 just to play some of the exclusives but I never owned the PS3.

  6. I think you're trying too hard to see an issue in every little thing sony/playstation does, like your reaction to the epic games investment news and Aloy in Fortnite, like wtf does this mean??? Some things you said are really bad and concerning like the lack of support for previous generations and the PS4 battery, but not Aloy in Fortnite lol
