  1. I'm not a photographer.. just yet.. maybe in the future. But this video introduce me new things about what is Medium Format and the reason to use it. Yes we have to love the process of making, be it videography or photography. Thanks Joris for awesome video and your honest thought 💖😎👍

  2. Great video! Much respect to you for traveling with a medium format camera, I don't think i would have it in me. My issue is I'm so used to the run and gun shooting because of my wedding days (oh how they haunt me haha). Regardless,I'd love to try out a medium format digital camera some day, seems like a ton of fun.

  3. Yeah, I find when I use adapted vintage glass on full frame, slows me down. Everything manual mode, spend more time with composition and thinking about light. Also….would I print this and hang it on my wall? If not, I move on.

  4. I feel your sentiment and I agree with what you say – as a designer I can value the intentionality. But I would encourage you to lean more into the intentionality not just in framing and when to snap the picture. Your images didn't show me more intent than any normal snapped picture. Maybe you love so much the process that the message of the image gets lost – which is fine, but maybe for your next project try the other way around. Find a subject or story you want to portray and build the image from there now that you have the process down.

  5. Thanks for a thoughtful input!
Now, if much of the effect of the medium format camera on the 'look' of images comes from the photographer interaction with a the camera and picture taking process differently than would be the case with full frame, the I suppose it could be counter productive to make medium format cameras much easier to use? As you may be aware Fuji has put out the GFX100 that along with e.g. pretty fast focusing has sensor image stabilization, allowing handheld shooting at a whooping 100 megapixels. Wouldn't that kill off the advantage you are talking about for a lot of folks?

  6. Hi, Joris! I started photography when I was 14, now I'm 55 :-). Your thoughts about medium format kinda bring my memories about that old days of film. I had just 36 pictures to take, and all at the same ISO. And all manual – focus and exposure. So the process was kinda same: think what you want, think how you want… And so on, even there was no tripod or biiig camera. It could be done today by using a 128MB or 256MB card :-))) for a wedding :-)))). Or for 3 or 5 days on a trip. Best wishes to you. Thanks for this video :-))))).
