The State of Tarkov – Escape from Tarkov

People keep asking me my opinion on the whole Tetriz, economy and general state of Tarkov. This is a summary of my thoughts.

  1. removing bunny hopping and the A-D spamming would be a positive start. Then adding punishments for hyper aggressive gameplay while rewarding tactical stealth is another motive.

If hyper Chads want to play king of the mole hill by merc'ing low level players trying to do tasks in customs, maybe a version of skill base match making is needed to lock the chads out so players of similar skill can actually experience Tarkov instead of being curb stop by some Meta Slick Wearing HK chad.

  2. I think people who play this like a full time job will always have the too much money problem with tarkov. Im a casual player, who might play 2-20 hours a week at most. And this wipe is the first time ive had fun.

Skills are finally in a place where I can have a full session on a saturday, and actually see progression. Like that is amazing. Normally tarkov is the worst possible mmo you could imagine. Just grinding grinding grinding for nothing to show for it.

Ive found 2 graphics cards this wipe, I did start late, but if you are minmaxing this game, then again it doesnt matter what they do, you will always have too much money. Thats a you the player problem, not the games problem.

The reverse bellcurve will also be a problem. Its nothing to do with the economy and everything to do with weapon balance. If a 70k five-seven can destroy pretty much everything up till level five gear. Then everything up till then is worthless. Build a dope gun, get some mid tier armour and you get dropped by an unarmoured pistolling. It makes no sense running the mid tier loot.

I guess final thoughts are, ive gotten so far into this wipe and am still playing. Ive gotten to quests I didnt know existed because the game has in the past been the most tedious boring mmo, that I checkout after the first few weeks. Ive also used weapons I would normally deem late game stuff, ie play this for 10 hours a day for a month and maybe I can use it then. I get veterans are bored, I get people who play this every day for hours on end are bored. But so what, keep up the excellent challenge series, like the RAID and hardcore. Leave the overwhelming majority of the player base to actually enjoy the game finally.

  3. i play tarkov twice a week maybe three times (im level 31), i have my bitcoin farm (6 graphics cards). i like that i have money and i can run what i want, but the market needs to be fixed

  4. Been saying the same about strength skill since I started the game. Game will be more balanced and more skill and not fly around a corner desync. BSG needs to really think about this change when they rework skills.

  5. 11:50 I'm a casual gamer who loves tarkov but I really agree with pest….. when i get in a raid to do my quests, sweaty players just come up to me to ruin my raid….I know that the bitcoin farm is very op. So i try to make it as fast as i can but since im a casual player, its rough to do that.

  6. As casual with a time job, i can finally play the fucking game and not have to constantly worry about money and being forced to play with crap guns and ammo.

But yes bitcoin farm is incredibly OP with that you can just make 800K profit in 25hours.

  7. Obviously I don't think this game is big enough for it cause getting into s raid takes 2-5mins already but if lobbies were put together by some skill based match making level wise would be nice for the newer people so level 1-10 aren't dying to level 40 thicc boys

  8. Lol. The fact that people still don’t realize the solution would have been to restrict placing Tetriz and GPUs in your gamma is so funny. There’s never really gonna be a “middle”. The true problem is that the “middle” is NEVER required to get to Meta gear. All you had to do was hatchet run for a single week, then BOOM, lvl 3 BTC farm with 50 GPUs. If you had to actually EARN those GPUs (ie, MAKE IT OUT OF RAID ALIVE), then it would have slowed everyone getting BTC, and everyone that had it would have earned their infinite meta gear. But nope, anyone with 20 hours of time and some patience are guaranteed a maxed BTC farm.

  9. I agree. I just started playing this wipe, about a week ago. I'm slowly getting better but its pointless for me to even pvp currently as I'm going to be one tapped by other players, I have to stick to killing scavs which doesn't really improve your skills. I do enjoy the game though, even though I'm probably the worst tarkov player who doesn't know good loot from bad lol

  10. The game will never progress toward a point of stability as long as the skills tab is in the game. They implemented it very poorly and it needs to be thrown out. The game would be perfect…..tell me how it makes sense. Like you said, "the rich will just get richer" when they can walk around without making noise, shoot with no recoil, hear everything 20 miles away, hardly break limbs, heal much faster, jump higher, run faster, throw grenades further, etc. all that on top of being rich and having the ability to constantly buy meta gear and having tons of map knowledge. But clowns will defend skills while rushing in a slick, altyn, 995 on a meta hk…..like why do you need that much more of an advantage over other players. It's why top tier players are bored with the game and why newer players get turned off to it so quickly. Make everyone a balance in the middle and the game would be about player skill, not how many rounds you can pump out of your gun with no recoil.

  11. All you sayed in this video is just putting patches on patches. This does not solve the core problems. IMO there should be only Barter trades for all the items in the game and no money economy at all. That might be a little too much so maybe there could be a middle ground. That beeing said, the only listable itmes on the Fleamarket shoud be low tier which you could also get from the traders. That would include up to lvl 4 armor, and mid tier attachments and so on. After some readjustments maybe a supply ground between lvl 2-3 trader items. All the Meta stuff should be barter only and also those barters needed for the trade cant be listet on the fleamarket.

  12. That’s what I’ve noticed with this wipe. You can get endgame in 1 month easily. And from that if your confident and don’t crab walk. Labs and interchange and anything is legit call of duty. Watch Hyperrat or 2thy these guys legit jump around everywhere W key everything run fly shoot like my dude it’s tarkov not Halo/cod. I don’t like that it’s become like this

  13. Durability is a bad idea coz then there is no point of investing into gpu's people would figure out the value over time and that would be set price. So you would be better off just selling it instead of waiting for your money. Only way it would work if durability was random allowing for profit but also breaking giving you a need to buy more

  14. The bitcoin farm sucks the fun out of the game for me. For the last 4 wipes I've played right up until i got the Bitcoin farm up and running and then progressively lost interest. It just defeats the whole hunter-gatherer aspect of the game.

And they need to quit that silly bitcoin linked to real world value thing. It is a nonsensical gimmick and does absolutely nothing for the game. Right now it just fucks up the ingmae economy to the point that i don't want to play. And i say that as someone who benefits from the btc farm. They try to balance the bitcoin value by limiting spawns of all things…just making looting stuff even more useless!
I am getting mad as i write this. I swear Tarkov is being held back massively by the stubbornness of the developers when it comes to features such as this. From a game design perspective this is only detrimental to the game and its balance.

To be completely honest i think the bitcoin farm as a whole needs to go. It feels like some mobile game log in bonus most of the time.

  15. I started playing tarkov the wipe before this one. Busted ass to get level 2 bitcoin. Enjoyed the game and wanted to keep playing. Even with the the multitude of server issues and damn near heart attacks it caused me. Anyways, I busted some more ass and the wipe occurred the day after I upgraded to level 3 bitcoin. That took all the wind out of my sails. Got to level 7 on this wipe and haven’t touched the game since.

The thing that really killed it for me was the 2 min wait times to hop in a raid after spending loads of time on a loadout just to die and have to go through it all over again. Those 2 minutes felt like 10+ and in reality were that long if you include creating loadout etc. couple this with the unreliability of the server connection etc. and it completely deterred me from wanting to invest my time in the game, especially when I could hop into a game like insurgency or squad and much more quickly get into a game with the same level of stimulation you get from tarkov, intense pvp gunplay.

Now if in the next wipe they add some new maps, decrease the load time between matches, create a loadout preset option, randomize spawns better, fix server issues, keep the bitcoin farm and flea market as is, and end wipes indefinitely, I will definitely try it out again. Until then as still a fairly new player who doesn’t livestream Tarkov for a living I likely wont go back to it. Its a lot to ask for so I wont get my hopes up.

  16. it was really hard at the beginning when i started playing tarky but as soon as i figured it out where to get good loot and how to do the quest quick and get the bitcoin farm going and its actually really easy game i would love to see when bsg make it way harder

  17. My issue with the recent changes to the tetriz barter is its worthless now. It takes 4 items to trade and in my honest opinion I think the only people who get to make the trade are the bots. With such a limited supply you just make the rich richer with no chance for timmy to sell make money off his first tetriz. The price has tanked from ~700-800k to <200k in only a few days. Make the spawns rarer, so when you actually find that rare item its more valuable. I know personally I now have 4 tetriz sitting in my stash not found in raid that I can do nothing with. Am I suppose to just throw them out or sell them to trader for like 60k? For like one of the top 10 items? Idk, love the game to death and it just frustrates me when I see changes implemented that seem to be hurting the playerbase.

  18. Remove the ability to put FIR items in your container during raid. This mechanic has not aged well – the fact that 90% of the top loot just "disappears" from the raid within its first 3 minutes without anyone extracting with it is retarded. You should have to fight your way to get to that loot, and fight your way out of the raid risking that loot every step of the way.

  19. Thank you Pestilly for making a video about the current state of tarkov. I just started 2 weeks ago and found raids really intimidating as every single time i met a player, it never ends well for me. This video give me more confidence as i used to think that I am just really bad at the game when it turns out that it is because other players are way more decked out than i am. I resort to playing offline alot as i enjoy the gunplay and mechanics of the game but am fearful of playing PMC raids as i keep losing my gear and i am also running out of in game money soon. Your video would probably get the developers' attention and it hopefully it would really help casual players like me out.

  20. I got 50 cards in my farm within the first few weeks, I'm now bored, I could push for Kappa, but I don't need to loot anymore so I don't need a bigger container. Only my second wipe and I have no desire to play anymore.

  21. I play middle tier loot on purpose a lot even if I can afford better. I think it fits the vision of the game better and beating meta players in squads while I'm just running whatever I last extracted with is really awesome. Nothing better than dropping a team solo when you're undergeared imo. Also as they refine the games economy and loot system, I won't be relying on the crutches of good gear!

  22. 1 thing they could do is add alot more "potential" spawns for valuable items like LedX's..u have large maps with only a few spots they can spawn which directs all the traffic/action to a very narrow area..there's a shootout, everyone dies, the survivor leaves and the rest of the map is often now dead

  23. I disagree with the "there's no middle gear anymore", I'm level 30 and I still play with adars, aks and sks because it's quite hard to get the money for btc farm lvl 2.

  24. frankly, every sort of useful items should have random spawns, and only quest items (such as docs cases) should remain the same. But otherwise, things like thumb drives, gpus and so on, should be random all over the map, not just in a particular area.

  25. Simple, remove the flee market and traders from the game. found in raid and quest rewards only. The economy would be fixed because it wouldn't exist. People wouldn't be running meta gear at lvl 10. People wouldn't need to rush marked rooms or tech stores to be the first to grab and sell that graphics card or money case because they wouldn't be able to buy shit besides medical and maybe lvl 1 trader gear. People would actually have to loot weapons crates for guns and parts to build the things they want.

  26. I played soo many hours last wipe but I cant bring myself together to play this wipe, the economy is ruined and it’s meaningless to run anything other than a sks or all-74 with cheap ammo. Not to mention the date at which they wiped was horrible, Christmas Eve? What a horrible day to wipe the game
