The Truth About Shadowlands PvP – Broken or Balanced?

World of Warcraft Shadowlands PvP has been under great discussion recently due to the current pacing and balance. Classes like Subtlety Rogues and Marksman Hunters have been plaguing the Arena and Battleground experience for many players since the launch. Because of this, many players are calling for nerfs before the Rated PvP Season Begins. However, I believe many classes like Ret Paladins, Arms Warriors, Shadow Priests, and Feral Druids could also be targeted.

This video is an attempt inform the PvP Community on what needs to happen in order create an enjoyable PvP experience for all players. Previous expansions like Mists of Pandaria used a different method of balancing that aimed to correct issues with the underperforming classes, where modern expansions seem to focus on simply nerfing the overperforming classes. I believe the ladder method is what has caused many of the issues that players experience today.

  1. What I am calling for is small frequent changes. No more massive nerfs every 3 months where we wait for the 3 months just for a class to be dead in the water. I am not saying we don't need changes this week, but I am warning the community that this type of balancing has lead us to where we are today. Hopefully that is understandable.

The community is clearly divided on this topic. And I just want us to be wise about the changes we are asking for.

  2. IMO its not that youre getting punished for making mistakes its that youre not even living for a second to think about the gameplan. Arena starts everyone pops everything and either you die or you live. Its way too bursty so that hots from a druid dont even have time to tick in order to keep your team alive.

  3. Rogues, Hunters, Paladins all have overpowered specs. It doesn't matter if it isn't "absolutely beyond broken" in a competitive environment. Being able to completely decimate another class without counterplay is egregiously oppressive. In short, at the highest level, the game should be balanced, and at all levels, the game should be fun. These classes impede on the latter goal.

You also mention that Blizzard has sometimes "overnerfed" some classes. While I'm not denying this, you fail to give good examples of this, and it's also not clear that the "community" even wants this. Most of us just want to be able to play the game on the classes that we love. Rogue's opening burst damage prevents us from even attempting to do so.

  4. I think one thing blizz could do to mm is to either make double tap pop them out of stealth or increase the time between the shots fired? I don't really want them to nerf mm too hard since IT feels really good in pve

  5. Spot on, and also kudos for picking music that isn't sad piano of emotional manipulation like a lot of people do when they're trying to be persuasive in a video. You just really think things through, which I, as a viewer, appreciate.

  6. But by buffing other classes and ignoring broken ones fights are gonna last like 5 seconds in non arena situations. Im a geared plate and i get killed in a single kidney shot its not a healthy state of pvp when there is no playmaking potential cause fights last so short

  7. I will be honest with you, I’m one of those guys that can’t chose a specific class, always swaping classes, and I’ve never had so much fun in pvp as I’m having rn for a long time in this game.

  8. Bringing classes up would work if it was only a PvP game. Wows biggest problem since launch is that they need to ballance PvP and PvE, and "most important" not to ruin the world first race for the 1% that deals with that. You can not have fun and powerfull mechanics when you have to ballance that sadly.
Best would be to bring back Resil or a PvP stat that would just make you trash in PvE. it is the only possible solution when you have a game that wants to focus on everything

EDIT: Also most important is to have it ballanced in the first patch and not the last, people drop of like flies if things are unballanced and you feel like shit from the start

  9. I would agree but seeing enhancement and demonology be bad a whole expansion I would have to disagree, and if we all want a fast played game, then more classes need the ability to burst like the rest

  10. I mostly agree with this video; I don't think classes should be gutted immediately before the season has even begun, BUT: some classes have certain covenant-abilities or something that is just not fair to play against. Yes, I also think an MM hunter SHOULD be able to kill someone when blowing all his cd's on a target that doesn't use a single one. This should be true for every burst class imo.

But take abilities like "convoke the spirits" or "divine toll" (night fae druid and kyrian paladin). These are abilities that WILL kill you, every single time, no matter how many defensives you have on you (apart from disperse, ice block etc.). I don't think it's right that some classes have just gotten a button that is "stop me from using this or you're dead". Both Rets and Ferals have very respectable damage outside their covenant ability, so yeah.

  11. Dude… you are in a huge misunderstanding. If u want a fast pace game go play Diablo 3 or other action game. Wow is an RPG or it should be. Wow is standing where it is because guys like you who dont know what's an RPG about.

  12. I like fast paced bursty pvp. I don’t like being 1 shot by someone’s opening.
Or have no time to respond to some instant skills.
I’ve been hit for 2x13k aimed shot.
I’ve been hit for 15k “the hunt” with 16% vers.
I’ve had many priests simply out heal my dps while also killing me as affliction warlock with full 171 pvp gear.
Yes, unrated bgs are not a good place to balance the game.
I wish what you’re saying is true. That our health will grow faster than our dmg.

  13. What about the barrier to entry for new players? Its off putting as a returning player to get 1 shot in arenas. Im sure things will change with more experience but first impressions mean a lot and and my desire to step into the arena has disappeared.

  15. In my experience it's more of a covenant issue then a class issue. Some covenants definitely need some tuning. And since the covenants are at fault people just blame the class. But I agree 100% with this view. Keep up the awesome work man! Love your vids!!

  16. Well there was no small nerf to my mm. Iv been waiting for it to somewhat viable for years but had to change to sur. Then out of nowhere before the season even starts we get a total of a 60% nerf to the dome and one of those is to our main damaging ability Aimed shot. Man I hope they even it out so I can have fun with mm again in rated.
