What a lovely idea! That’s what I’ve been doing, to some extent, with some of my own compositions. (And, I’ve simplified a few, too, because my skill level is higher on flute than on recorder and ocarinas.) 🙂 Where can one go to heat and/or read about this technique/style?
Hi Sarah, I just started alto recorde about 2 months ago, each time I play my right hand thumb always feel pretty painful. Is this normal?
Ik kan niet 'van het blad' zingen, dus speelde ik het op de blokfluit … what a wonderful day this is – alles wat tien jaar mijn leven beheerste is terug in een haalbare vorm en ook al heb ik zwarte sneeuw gezien, ik voel me als herboren … het is duidelijk dat ik heel binnenkort dit ene lichaam loslaat en dus ook dit ene leven, maar er is aan vervanging gedacht en Sophia is 31 jaar jonger dan ik, dus heeft nog een heel leven voor zich (en kan en mag haar eigen keuzes maken). Ook al is de blokfluit vaak het onderwerp van spot (mijn kinderen vonden de doedelzak een tweede beste als het over een totaal nutteloos muziekinstrument ging) het blijft in mijn repertoire, want het geeft me RUST, omdat je niet blaast maar ADEMT. Het brengt me naadloos bij Patrick, de pide pieper, dankzij hem heb ik de moeilijkste stap van mijn leven gezet – het me losmaken uit een toxische relatie. Al wat ik voor mezelf moest veranderen, is een aanbeveling voor vrouwen is een vergelijkbare situatie – we ZIJN mooie wezens, waarom zouden we dat ontkennen – mannen willen geen koude rots omarmen en wij kunnen ze weer op kamertemperatuur brengen … het is geen fijne reis geweest, maar ik heb mijn VRIJHEID herwonnen en ook al was Patrick niet aan mijn zijde, hij was wel in mijn hoofd … PISCES is uitgesteld tot ik in mijn nieuwe lichaam huis – het staat voor Patrick & Isabella's Court Ensemble en de bedoeling is dat we Early Music spelen zonder kapsones, maar wel met een toef slagroom op de taart … ik hou van hem en iedereen mag dat weten – als ik hem hoor spelen (en ik herken zijn stijl uit alle andere blokfluitspelers) dan sluit ik mijn ogen en denk ik aan wat had kunnen zijn … als iets de bedoeling was, dan komt het terug in een andere vorm en het was het wachten waard!
Je maakt me weer enthousiast om na jaren weer eens mijn dream recorders (sopraan en alt) van zolder te halen!

I have to say I love most forms of music from Gregorian chant to the most recent of pieces performed by the Calithumpian Orchestra but I absolutely hate sea chanteys.

The chorus on Variation 5 is like Darude Sandstorm but make it ~baroque~
Thank you very much! In bar 5 last note you play b flat, but I credit that to artistic freedom :-). But anyway, this will keep me practicing for quite a while!!

Is there a tenor recorder in between the cheap one (29€) and 100€ worth mentioning?
I've read about the Aulos 211A for small hands but maybe it's risky.
