THEY TRIED TO GUILT ME INTO REMOVING MY VIDEO!

Today we need to talk about MMORPGs and what goes on behind closed doors.

I thought it was over after my last video, but boy was I wrong. I’ve been privately emailed, asking me to remove my video because it will influence other content creators into speaking out against instances of malpractice like this. I responded as politely as I could, and hope that this is the last time we ever have to discuss this MMORPG, or things like this happening.

  1. Last week I released a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXQSFDp3dKQ In that video, I went on to discuss how I was reached out to to take a 20% cut of all future earnings for an upcoming indie MMO in return for my positive video – something I found detestable. Something I'd never do.
Today, we follow-up with the devs asking me to remove my video because it's going to influence other content creators to speak out against instances like this that may have happened, or are currently happening, and result in potentially less people willing to work alongside scams in the future.

  2. I respect what MMOByte is doing here. But I do have a problem with what indi devs are doing, because by asking for "donations" legally they do not count as investments, even though that's what gamers are doing, so they don't owe anything to people that "donate" and so the cycles continues and people keep getting scammed.

  3. You already called them out in the previous video. Not to us the viewers but to everyone else they potentially put offers towards and that's most likely why they're trying to get the video taken down.
the correlation could be made, and they're probably afraid that your video will sway potential influencers who they reached out to.

  4. I once got false copyright strike from big company. I keep asking the reason they strike me but always ignore my email. I don't even review their game but a free game in playstore. Sometimes I don't get it with devs these days, they should focus on improving their own game and not trying to mess with game reviewer.

Take reviewer's suggestion or criticism to make a better game.

  5. If they have time to write a lengthy guilt trip letter, they obviously aren't putting much effort in making the game. If you want to prove critic wrong, just make the game. They are lucky they didn't pull this on more vocal youtuber out there.

  6. Sorry, "developers"… Produce something presentable and THEN come back and ask for money… Not a second earlier…
And MMOByte: You´re right… There´s so many asset-store scams that it´s absolutely necessary to be suspicious… If they are legit, then return to sentence 1…
