Imo, running sapphire crystal with futures market on Malz is much better than starting Dorans or using cosmic insight. Is the ability haste on cosmic really useful? Yes. Is the item haste kinda of a waste? In my opinion, yes, because on Malz the only thing you would really use item haste for is Zhonyas. All of his core items (Liandry's, Rylai's, Demonic) do not benefit from item haste. Running cosmic is a waste in my eyes because you are using the rune for half of its effect, where futures market allows you to hit that Lost Chapter spike extremely early, allowing you to exercise strong control over the laning phase, which is Malz's weakest phase, so being able to make that stage of the game more in favor of Malz seems like the obvious choice
