There are several board members at the six breakaway clubs who are opposed to joining the new league but they feel they do not have the power to stop it.
The owners of the clubs involved were fully expecting a backlash to the super league plans but were ‘not worried’ about bad PR. “Our primary job is to maximise our revenues and profits. The wider good of the game is a secondary concern.”
It’s also been suggested that the club owners would be ‘secretly delighted’ at the prospect of players not being able to play in international fixtures and if the clubs were to remain in the Premier League then the clubs would focus on midweek Super League games as a priority.

why only the top team agreed with this league..
No. No. No. and No.
GREED ! GREED !! GREED !!!
Behold the power of the People!!!
The Broom sweeps clean when the sticks are together!!!…….IN UNITY, WE WILL BE STRONG!!!
On this day, The Good strived and conquered the Bad !!!
VIVA TO TRUE FOOTBALL !!!
…it's not a civil war…it's not a nuclear war…it's all about "show me the money"…and by the way if you still believe that in the Premier League are "playing" English Teams…such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City & Manchester United then goodnight and sweet dreams…
The Americans not understanding Relegation, who cares what they think? Relegate all those teams involved to the bottom off the English football League. Thereby giving them a demonstration with an explanation.
Sick stuff greedy fucks
One of the commentators made a great point, when these big teams play each other often, it won't be as special. As a Yank, I think the PL should have a salary cap to spread the wealth. The NFL divides the TV money equally so small market teams can compete equally with NY, LA etc.Pittsburgh is a small city yet the Steelers always contend because of better management
very strong choice of words to spread despite the source if the claim. nuclear war ffs?
Boycott The Breakaway
An American takeover of football my god God help us all
Y'all bloody hypocrites. Getting worked up, pretending to care about 11(10+1) millionaires who never did 1day's honest work with their hands, nor feet for that matter, in their lives wanting to cut down on their running time after a ball…
When does the nuclear war on Racism start?
“Here’s a bunch of stuff that suits our agenda at Sky by an unnamed board member at one of these 6 clubs” 🤔
Good journalist work at 4:23
The European Super Bowl of Soccer
Refuse to police any games in England concerning the 6 scum clubs.these games are not permitted without policing.
Perhaps fans will now realise the level of contempt the owners of clubs have for fans, especially these faceless foreign owners.
Should've been a Super League. The biggest and best 36 teams globally having worldwide viewership which would be a boon for that team, league and country.
No other time would a top Euro team play a top South American team for example. Maradona's storied Boca Juniors against Liverpool or Juventus v a top JLeague team. Other countries would get stronger in the sport.
No relegation means that smaller, lower placed clubs(in any league or sport)can benefit from TV revenue to sign better players to compete in their respective playoffs/tourneys.
It'll happen in the next 5 yrs though. It's too attractive to pass up. And no,I'm not "plastic". I love my team, and the sport. I just think it would make teams more competitive on a global scale outside of Europe besides a World Cup "group stage" and a Champions League which is again,ONLY European.
Yeah and we are the victims, salute to everyone in favor of the super league
There are 2 potential outcomes if this Super League happens. 1- ESL gains fame and support, local leagues lose money phase out. Football slowly dies in these countries and eventually Super League dies. 2- Super League member clubs lose fans, players prefer to play in local leagues and national teams. Super League loses ratings. Nobody watches them and they collapse financially.
I don't see any positive outcome of a Super League.
Football die in time when in Champions league play 4 teams from top league, but no place for Champions from other league.
UEFA and most of the footballers are over reacting to it. Where is UEFA when racism takes place on field, they are sleeping and so is the media. No strong reaction then
And sky needs to stop robbing us football fans with that huge subscription to watch our beloved matches
Everyone who thinks the Super League is a good idea, you do realise this can destroy the game of football all together?
So much for all the fans that have supported these teams all these years!
The US wants to know your location
I mean, don’t sell your players to these teams the historic age of these clubs are done now let new super clubs form and these clubs will soon die out
Its already over with
But something tells me, these owners will try it again in the future
to say im ashamed all of of the epl clubs going thru with this super league is an understatement.
the club names must in law belong to the fans then if this happens again they cannot use an existing club name
All of you fans are the ones that allowed this capital driven world to enter football by keep buying souvenirs going to games etc etc when big countries, companies bought your clubs ;D
Hahahahahaha
Its just crappy football really, stop the superlative BS. If fans really supported football they would have cancelled their SKY years ago.
fans .
This is why football is Shiite and rugby is so much more better
I think we should let them go because then the actual teams that spend reasonable amount of money And have decent talent actually get a shot at winning the Premier League and it takes the money concept out of football and brings it back to football actual love of the game that’s just my opinion
so they are doing what they want with the money they are stealing every year from poor nations. why not just burn them to ashes and finally be clean of all the corruption around.
it would be so funny if the real case was not the football super league, but pushing certain laws under its cover to centralize power around private business. Depends of what regulations they would propose i would be really worried and looking out for everything that as usual will aim for more than just the case it was proposed for.
The owners are businessmen, of course they are going to be revenue-oriented.
Bravo let’s hope we see more of your slot on Ski Sports
