President Biden is set to announce executive actions to combat gun violence in the country. This comes less than one month after the deadly mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, that claimed the lives of ten people, including a police officer. Junie Joseph, the Mayor Pro Tem of Boulder, joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about Biden’s proposed gun legislation. “Understand that Colorado, we can’t do it alone,” she said. Citing mass shootings across the country, she said every state needs to have legislation to keep people safe. “This is not a video game. This is real life,” she said while expressing the need for national measures. Joseph also said the community is pushing for universal background checks and a ban on assault-style rifles.

Executive actions do not apply to the people. Stop trying to trample on the rights and liberties of law abiding citizens. There are mass shootings monthly in chicago, where's the outrage.
