Phineas and Ferb. Clone High. The Powerpuff Girls. Tiny Toons. Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Ren and Stimpy. Futurama. Total Drama Island. The Amazing World of Gumball. King of the Hill. All of these cartoons are coming back in reboots, revivals, and new seasons, revealing a problem about the current TV animation industry.
Nostalgia sells. That’s why Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and every streaming service is giving us an endless cycle of animation (and live-action) reboots and revivals. What happened to original ideas? Why are shows like Inside Job and Close Enough getting cancelled before they can really shine? Will this barrage of animation reboots ever slow down?

could you stop rebooting things… for 5 MINUTES?!
To be honest, the reboots help us relive our childhood. Sure we need some new stuff too, but let’s all sit back and enjoy what we got like all families should.
I wouldn't mind some of the reboot shows if they use shows that ended on a cliffhanger that way we could get an ending
“Why Rely on inspiration when the old stuff’s tried and true?” – some guy in Phineas and Ferb
where is Thomas the tank engine
Completing a series that was once canceled is welcomed. Hard rebooting is not
A reboot is okay for me, as long as the creator agree or even support, or better yet join the production. The purpose also needed to be adressess, is it for nostalgia for old viewers and good welcome for new viewers, or it's just for one of the two, or worst, only for money. I sometimes putting a little expectation in reboot in cases it didn't turned out well
Ok but clone high is actually kinda warranted…
I and others as a Tokufans are are getting struggled in a nostalgia bias too such as New Gen Ultramans or Hasbro's or Gen Z Power Rangers nowadays
We're getting a same problem too..
I stopped watching TV years ago after they stopped showing the CN City. I haven't watched anything after that and seeing this right now just makes me want to stop watching it even more now.
It's a fact that original projects take time there not something that you can make quickly coming up with an original idea isn't easy and that's a fact here's a quote from AVGN or apart of it. You can't always summon spontaneous imagination sometimes, it only comes natural in the late night hours which is true if only people like you Sandro and others would know this
I can’t say when, but I’m sure new original shows will be given a chance to shine again. In the mean time, someone give the green light for MaoMao season two already!
the only thing I'm exited for is Phineas and Ferb's reboot
Ayo stop dissing animaniacs
Every single reboot now is only for little kids…
What about us?
the only approved reboot for me is for the series that didn't have a proper ending or on cliffhanger status
I feel like Moon girl and devil dinosaur could be the next big thing (even though its also technically a reboot)
Not problem with the reboot. Problem is… How good they made them
This is why nostalgia needs to stop being milked.
What?! KING OF THE HILL IS RETURNING?!
Come on! Give the reboots a chance! I bet some of you have been crying to see more Phineas & Ferb, Tiny Toons and Gumball!
Craig is on board for the PPG’s second revival, so it’s bound to be great.
Craig McCraken himself said that he went back to PPG because he pitched 10 shows and nobody was interested in new ideas.
Gumball doesn't need a reboot. He's already perfect
Here’s what’s coming back:
Phineas & Ferb
The Powerpuff Girls
Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends
King of the Hill
Clone High
Darkwing Duck
Tiny Toon Adventures
Futurama
Total Drama
Totally Spies
Oggy and the Cockroaches
Ren & Stimpy
The Amazing World of Gumball
So what do you think of The Ghost and Molly McGee?
Reboots are only good if handled well, but original shows are having more problems because they keep getting cancelled and all, it really matters the people behind the shows and who manages them.
