1) Disney Infinity- Infinity combines video gaming and toy lines that features characters from all range of Disney movies and TV shows. It was a gamble made by Disney to revive their digital division and came to life in 2013. The cost is thought to be around $100m.
2) Too Human- Xbox has an estimated budget of around $100m. The game has been in limbo for about 10 years and was planned by Sony for the PS1 in 1999. It was panned around different companies until Xbox finally launched it in 2008 and it was received to very mixed reviews and seen as a bit of a flop
3 )Red Dead Redemption- Know as RDR, but also described as GTA but in the wild west, the western game released by Rockstar was a critical hit. You play as John Marsden traipsing around the west to try and redeem his criminal actions. It was brought to consoles worldwide in 201 and cost around $95m to make.
4) GTA VI- Rockstar have more than one entry in this list and the worlds most successful gaming franchise has 2 entries alone; GTA 4 was a huge success for the company and it followed Niko as an immigrant trying to live the American Dream as he works is way to millions of $. More than 1,000 people worked on the project for 3.5 years and sold 600,000 copies on day 1 release. It cost $100m to make and grossed $400m worldwide in week 1 of release.
4 )Max Payne 3- After being pushed from 2009 to 2010 release, it had become extremely anticipated by fans and critics alike. It’s estimated to have cost around $105m to make and received critical acclaim across the board, for both gameplay and voice acting.
5) Destiny- Destiny was the PS4s flagship game and focuses on multiplayer co-operation to master. Players take on the role of a Guardian, defenders of Earth’s last safe city, as they wield a power called Light to protect the city from different alien races. The Guardians are tasked with reviving a celestial being called the Traveler, while journeying to different planets to investigate and destroy the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out. Estimated costs was $140m.
6) Final Fantasy 7- Development of Final Fantasy VII began in late 1995 and required the efforts of approximately 120 artists and programmers, using PowerAnimator and Softimage 3D software. It was the most expensive video game of its time, with a budget of around $45 million and its marketing cost $100 million.
7) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 made staggering amounts of money when it was released, but it wasn’t exactly cheap to make, either. Not only did its development cost about $50 million, but its marketing and launch budget was a whopping $200 million.
8) Star Wars; The Old Republic 2- One of the largest entertainment productions in history, Star Wars: The Old Republic needed more than 800 people on four continents to spend six years and nearly $200 million to be created. The story runs 1,600 hours, with hundreds of additional hours still being written. Nearly 1,000 actors have recorded dialogue for 4,000 characters in three languages.
9) GTA V- Estimates place the game’s combined development and marketing budget at more than $265 million, which would make it the most expensive game ever made. Additionally, Grand Theft Auto V broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning $800 million in its first day and $1 billion in its first three days.
