Just finished A Plague Tale: Innocence and I'd say Amicia is one of the best protagonists I've ever played as.
I always found Aerith very bland but to each their own.

My favourites are Coco (Crash Bandicoot series), Aqua (Kingdom Hearts series), Chloe Price (Life is Strange Series), Elena Fisher & Chloe Fisher (Uncharted series)

I didn't expect Aerith at number 1 but I can't say I disagree with his choice. Having said that I am legitimately shocked Lara freaking Croft didn't get at least an honorable mention. Chun Li, Samus, and Lara are like the Holy Trinity of original badass women in games!

In terms of playing the character, I'd say my favorites were Aya Brea from Parasite eve and Jill Valentine from RE1 and 3.
As for woman characters in general, Zelda's at the top alongside Eva from MGS3 and GLaDOS.

So I used Aerith in the original PC port of FF7 (after having played it on my friend's PSX). I knew the game and decided I wanted to power her up completely. Lvl 4 LB and ultimate weapon for her all before her demise.
She was so OP that I was able to use her to get enough battle points in the Golden Saucer arena to get Omnislash before the end of disc 1. She was so underrated and was totally worth investing time into and is still one of my personal favorite video game ladies.
