This is the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II for the PlayStation 4 running on a PlayStation 5. On PS4, the resolution for this game was 1080p. On PS4 Pro, the resolution was bumped up to 1800p. Both consoles targeted 60fps, but both could also drop below 60fps at times. The PlayStation 4 Pro in particular would struggle at times to maintain 60fps in certain areas of the game. In this gameplay video, the PlayStation 4 Pro would dip below 60fps during these sections:

Boss Fight—Magic Knight Ortheim: 13:23
Cutscene with Vita Clotilde: 37:47

It’s a lot smoother on PS5 than it is on PS4 Pro. Slowdowns like these would occur on PlayStation 4 Pro when there was fog or other particle effects appear on screen.

With all that said, the PlayStation 5 uses PlayStation 4 Pro settings, so you’ll be able to experience this game in 1800p at 60fps on both a 4K display and a 1080p display.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

This recording is in 1080p and 60fps. Gameplay captured from a PS5.
