  1. I wish there was a more thematic way of moving across the map. Teleporters feel so out of place right now. Even the same mechanics but presented like a caravan you build up in a base, and use like a buildable quick travel. I get that we are in a supernatural setting, but so much of the game is building ancient tech, then WHAM you are a bender of space and time…

  2. I'm guessing their hand is forced here, they don't want to lock characters to a particular game world, so the two solutions are to let people portal with metal, or somehow save inventories to the game so you have separate save states but with the same character.

I know there's a vocal minority who don't like the portals at all, but it does fit the theme of the game world they have built. the world is also large enough that without them you'd spend far too much time just traveling. I love exploring and removing the fog of war, but running from known base to known base just to get all the materials in the right spot by the right station is not compelling gameplay.

  3. I stick to the idea of Doing it the "right way" the first time, then taking advantage of whatever tricks I can after that. Didn't cheese any of the bosses on the first run through, found and transported a TON of copper, tin, and iron via boat. That may have put me behind compared to friends that did, but I enjoyed the adventure the first time around, even with the (many) fails.

After the first time though, the tricks definitely take the 'grind' out of the equation and allow me to enjoy the other parts of the game

  4. I got used to this in Savage Lands so I can understand both points of view. But as for the portals I am leaning towards their usefulness to travel to places faster but personally I think they should cost a lot more to build and be an item that if broken you do not get the resources back. I have watched some people who have 10+ portals at their base already. And portals should be linked only on the island/land mass of the same, otherwise ships are hardly used at all. just a few thoughts. but either way this game is great!

  5. I like them mechanic the way it is now with metals.

I'm having great fun with this game. My only problem is my indecision on where to finally put my main base.

  6. Maybe it should be a cost with teleporting with "prohibited" materials? Random or % losses of goods? Higher risk of troll attack on bases (without troll-loot, just the damage) that senses portal that are in active link? Should number of portals be linked to number of level 2/3/4 of workbench? Or goods transport are linked to level of portal? One type for each "age" (bronze, iron, silver, blank metal)?
