She wears half a butterfly on her chain. I bet Lily had the other half.
The letter you find inside the house I'd say is Thomas talking about Lily, he is writing it to his wife. In the pictures Lily looks "unamused" toy say the least, while Marianne is/looks closer to Thomas literally and figuratively speaking. We can extract from that letter that Lily blames Marianne from their mother's death. Maybe that occurred during birth and made Thomas to feel more attached to you. Let's see but I think Lily does not go away because she needs your pardon for something she did and the Hound hinted…Never mind, you figured it out a minute later 😅I wonder if Marianne is talking to her mother? Since Lily knows the story and Thomas could very well be a vegetable himself which could mean maybe she's trying to remind him of the events (because the kitchen looks very similar to when he was talking to his mirror self). But a part of me thinks that since all of the family has these powers where they can at least hear voices maybe even interact with the spirits. What if when marianne was younger she accidentally sent her mother to the beyond which is why Lilly hates her and her father is fearful of her power. Unless they decided to be literal and the maw is the mother's demon
