Just found this too from Riot too: "However, Udyr is in the process of receiving a visual and gameplay update (VGU) in LoL PC that we knew wouldn’t be finished by the time A Curious Journey released. When that became apparent, our team was faced with a unique need and opportunity: we had to take a fresh look at the champion and figure out how we might be able to reimagine him in the period leading up to his VGU. We didn’t want to release a 1:1 version of him with the existing version of Udyr since he’s about to have a shiny new VGU, but due to development timelines it wasn’t possible to develop a version that’s going to be 1:1 with his post-VGU design, so we decided on somewhere in between the two."

Didnt they say LOR Udyr is the pre-League Udyr when he would still transform into animals? The new League Udyr is gonna transform into spirits (Volibear, Ornn, Anivia). The LOR and League team couldnt work at the same pace so they decided they will create Udyr in different timelines of his life.

In his LoR card, his appearance is looks a lot like (at least to me) to his ultimate skin…. Maybe the "short hair" Udyr will be his new look in the ultimate skin.

Its not the new look it was confirmed that this is his old and new hybrid. His stances are related to volibear anivia ornn and iron boar
The Wildclaw stance replaced the Phoenix stance in LoR… idk why, I guess bc they already have a wildclaw in the game

his ingame looks like a homeless. the one in runtera looks more powerful
There's a dev blog for Udyrs LoR development, they say in the blog their version's Stances are inspired by existing Freljordian cards and is different from what the League team is doing
Going to miss turtle 🙁 Although very useful, i never liked phoenix that much. Only because it made the others stances almost worthless. Just stay phoenix the entire game…no issue. I like the idea of Ram. Not sure why you would have a ram and a boar though? Just give me 8 animal stances and let me pick 4 at the beginning of each game 😉
Riot releasing champions in the speed of light while VGU releases comes like a sloth
The voice will for sure be the same, which is great, I love this gravely voice.
They might use this overall look for one of the skins that are currently underwhelming (Black Belt Udyr might become "Wanderer Udyr" or something like that)
Current Udyr's ragged robes and bear pelt hood + Spirit Guard's gauntlets and beads + Rework Udyr's tattoos

I prefer the wild look on the "devblog" Udyr better. The one with long, unkept hair and a much bigger figure.
I think it will be different especially because riot dont wanna change udyrs gameplay too much because removing pheonix will upset alot of old udyr players. What i dont get tho is why they didnt just have pheonix stance do 1 to everyone and ram be the overwhelm one.
