As you stated, this is NOT how bails work.
For those wondering, it involves the difference between jail and prison. Jail is the place you are held until your court date, where as prison is where you go to serve your sentence.
You pay bail to get out of jail, allowing you to go home and shit until your court date.
It doesn’t let you skip your punishment, and isn’t a “pay enough money and you are free”.
