You don't need to own valheim to install the server. Especially if you want to run it on a second computer.
Hey great video bud, I got the server up and running and I'm pretty sure all my port forwarding and such is correct. My question is how do my friends go about getting onto the server whilst in game? I know I have to give them my IP and such but from there where would they go to enter the server itself?
I'm having a problem. I find my server and I can play on it. If I quit the game and then get back on I have no buildings, just my gear and stats. Whats going on with that?

Followed everything to the letter, but the second I try and add my server to favorites and find it, it isn't responding even after bumping the last number up by 1
Whenever my friends try to connect with my IPv4, the steam server list doesn't show it. I've done Port Forwarding correctly and looked over it a few times, is there something that someone else had to do or am I doing something wrong? And my friends would connect through the steam server list, right? Or is it through Valheim somehow?
worked fine for me. Spectrum doesn't make it easy to port forward but after some digging was able to do it successfully! Thanks for the vid 🙂

Cant seem to connect to the server with the public IP. i can find the server using the IPV4 address. Steam shows it as "server is not responding" . im pretty sure ive set everything up correctly as im running a Minecraft server on the same PC which people can connect to externally. Feel like its an issue with the game maybe?
Does anyone know how to keep the server from "timing out"? Like I kept it on overnight, and when I tried to login in the morning, it would not. I had to close, and restart the server
Hey, when I initially start up the server app on steam it looks nothing like the video. There is no place to login anonymous, or do the update? Does that mean it's already updated?
The folder looks like yours does when you say it's ready to go. It looks like it's already loaded in all my characters and current servers.

When configuring your second server do you only copy the .bat file and share all the libraries or should you copy the entire folder?

is there a way for the server to automatically save the world? because from what I tested it doesn't have it.

update: It ended up being a client firewall issue – needed to double-check the allow rules on both the server and client.

So..how does the time work for servers? does it keep running while the server is up or does it start when someone is in it? if it is up all the time how does the being attacked work?
