VALHEIM Did Something INCREDIBLE

Valheim came out just over 2 weeks ago. Already it has not only been one of the biggest historical vikings games on steam but one of the greatest success sorties in gaming history.
But whats next for the game? How can the developers keep it alive.
How has Valheim done something incredible?

  1. All the things I love about Minecraft but with a better setting and bosses. Loving it so far! Can be chill and relaxing with the basebuilding, but also intense and action packed during boss fights and exploring new areas at night. Can't wait to see what's next. Hands down the best of the pve focused survival games. I also love the music to, some of the tunes remind me of old Gothic (and Risen 1) games.

  2. Thats the way you want games to become famous. Not because of advertisement, but because the community share them.
I love the fact that you keep your character if you join some other friends and help them fight. You dont have to start over and over again, wich is a really cool thing I've never seen before

  3. The texture and light working here reminds me a lot of Shadow of the colossus, that game look awful on textures but the lighting and post effects work on that game made it my fav game of all time

  4. I think you hit the nail on the head in why the game is doing so well. It comes down to a perfect blend of passion and dedication from the Developers. I think that due to that, they've made a true Diamond in the Rough that has been well received by the community as a breath of fresh air in the Survival Genre. I'm incredibly excited for what Iron Gate AB has in store for Valheim, and further games in the future.

  5. The reason the game is so 'low-res' is because it's LITERALLY ONLY ONE GIGABYTE.
It has all this stuff, and for a new early-access alpha game, it is a pretty solid game already.

Yet with everything it has, it's ONLY ONE GIGABYTE.

The thing is, most games nowadays look for the best graphics possible, the best look, the best eye-catching and eye-pleasing. But the actual gameplay aspect has died a lot and suffers as graphics became the focus. Valheim is going back to the old days where gameplay was more important. And they still managed to make the game so immersive and beautiful despite this. Amazing. The graphics only 'looked bad' because they weren't as close to real-life as possible. Except, that's completely wrong. It's not supposed to look like real-life, it's not supposed to be realistic.

It's a game, you want to be immersed in a new world beyond our reality and have fun. Valheim does that. It's simply immersive, enjoyable, and fun. It is challenging, there's lots to find, to explore, to experiment with, and beautiful sights to behold. I think that's why Valheim is so successful.

  6. All i would want them to add is more epic bosses that dwarf the player, the addition of potions and alchemy, and the addition of more weapons and armor would make this game ridiculously fun

  7. I generally only played multiplayer games and would play with friends all the time but since the pandemic we all split up with college and since this game came out I finally have a game that I can only imagine is amazing with friends but is one of the best games I’ve played in single player by far.

  8. Valheim also released in alpha state in 2018 outside steam and appeared on steam wishlist back then already. Since then the game also dropped beta keys on it's discord page for everyone to try out the game before even releasing it on early access on steam.
2,5 years later today the steam release was announced on its discord 2 months prior and it's MASSIVE fanbase were all ready to buy it on day 1 and it just went on from there. that's why it's so big right now because so many people have been waiting for it.

  9. Indie companies wrecking the likes of EA. David vs Goliath
EA Boardroom: we have some of the best franchise names in the industry… any ideas? 👆 "we could take last years game and reskin it?" Yes brilliant!!

  10. The game looks really fun, but I just have this one pet peeve, not really about the name. Its that people never pronounce it right! In Scandinavian languages "heim" is pronounced "heym" not "hyme". "hyme" is the German pronounciation. Its not a big deal but it just always bothers me

  11. tip for the elder: equip bow and fire arrows, find a rise/hill, fire over the rise with minimal amount of torso showing, duck down when he ranged attacks, relocate with timed double rolls, return to a rise, repeat (trees and rocks wont save you but generic terrain will)
