Valheim – How to build a Viking House – Mead Hall (Building Guide)

This is a Valheim How to Build Tutorial for a Viking Mead Hall.
I wanted this video to be a good building guide for Timber Framing and building support for large Wooden bases.

This video covers a lot about the building mechanics for wooden structures.
I have explained each step along the way and you can see the whole build come together and hopefully get some ideas for your own builds.

I am getting a lot of love in the comments on the other videos, I really enjoy building so I appreciate that.
I am reading all the comments and taking the info you guys are giving me on the builds and putting it into practice.

This is a How to Build Tutorial for Valheim.

  1. Hey People 🙂 Thanks for all the comments sooo many so quick 😆 I will have a good read through them in the morning. I have just finished building a Blacksmiths that was requested and I will get to work on a Boat house and docks then on to some stone builds 👍
Thanks for all the likes, Subs and views, it has been a crazy week for me really appreciate it 😁

  2. Umm how do you get infinite resources I would love to do building in this game but I don't want to have to stop to go harvest all the time esp for stone buildings or do you just harvest it all?

  3. Why do you use those small vertical poles underneath? Wouldnt be better to simple put the horizontal poles straight on the floor? Would make all your horizontal poles blue instead of green, which means you would be able to build at least 1 floor higher.

  4. I made this using a stone floor instead of raised framework. I would estimate the final material count as 54 stacks of stone, 54 stacks of wood, 10 stacks of core wood. Basically what I did was build it in debug mode, then destroyed it and put all the materials in the chest. Then added a few extra stacks of everything to factor in the fact that I built it on a mountain and some of the stuff fell off, and extra stone needed for raising the ground to support your floor. If you do it without the stone floor, you'd probably need to add another stack or two of wood for the beams to raise it off the ground. You'd still need at least probably 10 stacks of stone just to raise the ground into the beams though.

  5. Oh my god you are a genius. This is beautiful. Just built a large ass viking mead hall but the roof was a pain. Definitely doing the structural foundation* first. Thank you!

  6. I have yet to see many build videos using stone. Is there any idea you have for it build-wise? I want to see what you do with it. 🙂

All I did was make a throne/hall with it but nothing so impressive as you can make.

  7. i'm not good at building in these types of games – I usually end up building ugly box houses. your guides for valheim are both great blueprints to straight copy and for helping folk understand the building systems to make their own. thanks duder! looking forward to your blacksmiths 😀

  9. One of the best wood builds I’ve seen so far. Very much appreciate the time and effort you put into this video. Cheers!

My mates and I tried your build piece for piece and we noticed some minor things:

    1) The wooden walls look nicer when you turn them correctly, so when you look at the house from the outside it is even.

    2) when you place the 4m poles vertically you also add 2m at the bottom. We were wondering if this would add any stability as the color didn’t change (you have to wait and watch for a bit as it goes from blue, green, orange, etc. once you place an object. ) we decided NOT to put the 2m logs, instead there were just the 1m poles that stand in the ground (blue). We managed to build it to the top except the very top cross would fall off. We could circumvent this by adding two 26 degree planks and make a cross this way. So in total the 2m planks seem to add stability, but we can’t explain why. But it is possible to get the same height and look without 2m poles (only 4m at bottom)

    3) we had a lot of fun building this project! Thank you for the inspiration, we are slowly decorating now. Nice build!

  10. Just used this build along with a blacksmith build I saw an image of online in my settlement, the sheer amount of terraforming I’ve had to do is absurd though. It replaced my version of your first build, which has the rounded sections you used in this one. Your videos have definitely made me a better building in this game, now to plan my castle! I posted the build on the discord.

  11. Really beautiful building my friend. but you got a misunderstanding about the structural stability. adding more framing doesnt really help. Everything is calculated just based on the foundation you used for example the 2m or 4m log poles that are connected to the ground. the parts that attached to the building check for the shortest connection to a foundation piece and check if they can be held up. placing a new peace causes it to calculate again thats why it always shows green before it gets more red again.

I recommend you watch the Video from Fire Spark 81 about Structure Stability, that helps a lot and lets u save a lot of uselesly placed "frames"

Otherwise relly cool building, im using your guide for my friends and me 😀

PS: rain only damages the structure to up to 50%, it will never go below 50% integrity so you dont need to worry about that and can just repair everything after the roof is done.

  12. This is an absolute work of art. Love it. My only minor issue with it is the raised beams / trim on floor. It looks like something you'd be tripping over (well, I would anyway) constantly.

  13. Amazing video! I liked and subscribed not only for the awesome build, but the effort that was put into this video. I'm building this in my own server and I'm sending all my friends the video to this link in the discord.
