Valheim
—————————-
A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim.

Your trials begin at the disarmingly peaceful centre of Valheim, but the gods reward the brave and glory awaits. Venture forth through imposing forests and snow-capped mountains, explore and harvest more valuable materials to craft deadlier weapons, sturdier armor, viking strongholds and outposts. Build a mighty longship and sail the great oceans in search of exotic lands … but be wary of sailing too far…

  1. I've built roads and used the cart. I still enjoy using the longship, But the logout method is what I use if It's the most convenient. There is enough grinding in the game, transporting should not be such a chore. Zero guilt. Thanks for the video, and your fair assessment.

  2. There's a solid argument that arbitrary restrictions on transportation of copper, tin, and iron, are a silly gameplay mechanic and the devs need to find a better way to encourage transport of these; or provide better ( more fun) tools.

  3. I think there should be a way to transport ores and metals through portals. I can understand why the devs would want to gate that so perhaps implement a payment system so there's a resource cost to restrict the usage. The Trader could sell some kind of portal boosters that would temporarily override the restriction.

  4. In my opinion there should be an upgraded version of the portals made with some boss dropped item or other end game related item, so you just had to experience the inconvenience of transporting metals while that metal was relevant to your progress.

  5. What about binding the teleport restriction to the area boss. Example: You cant teleport iron until you hang Bonemass trophy in boss circle. At that point you have access to silver and iron will only be used to finish maxing out your iron stuff to prep for the mountain and construction projects. It adds a little lore, because why can iron tools teleport but not the iron itself. Maybe working the metal with hammer and forge drives out the boss's influence.

  6. I think the only way I would want to be able to portal ore and metal is if I had to trade my leveling experience per pound of metal ore to take it thru. If it is truly an endgame wish, then I think that's a fair balance.

  7. Muling imo is just not it. I have different characters for other worlds. I think the game should be played the way it's created per world. THATS JUST ME. I get your idea though. Great video.

  8. My suggestion would be different levels of portals that require the next higher material to craft.

for example you use iron ore to craft a portal that let's you teleport copper and bronze. silver ore to craft a portal that lets you teleport iron and so forth.

  9. I think they recognized that players would use the seed system as a way to move ore. They just knew that they wanted to let ppl move their characters to different worlds as well. Honestly, the dev's probably think the world switching cheese is kinda stupid. They already gave ppl the debug codes which is faster. I personally choose to pull a cart onto the small boat and leave it permanently when going to a swamp to make iron harvesting easier. I do like the idea some have had of allowing progression in the game to unlock teleportation of lower tier ore. Other games have had mechanics like that and they worked well. Keep the challenge current rather than repetitive grinding.

  10. Really, if you are trying to reduce grind… Just spawn the metal in and tell yourself it is a mechanic of the game. Saves you a ton of time.

    spawn Iron 300

    Done!

  11. Not being able to teleport ore is just dumb. It is clearly an arbitrary restriction to make you waste more time lugging ore around which is (as far as I am concerned) boring as fuck. Viewed logically, why would you be unable to teleport ore, unable to teleport forged bars, but if you hammer those bars into pretty shapes like swords and armor then they go through portals just fine? Absolutely arbitrary and silly restriction, makes no sense, and lugging crap around is not fun. I'm playing to have fun, so yeah, storage world. (BTW — lugging ore through a storage world is a pain, just less of a pain.) IMO, they should either remove the boneheaded restriction on portals, or remove the portals. If I want to make a forward base, I will, I don't need the game to force it on me.

  12. I think the ore restriction should be specific to unrefined ore. Once they're in smelted form they should be allowed. This encourages a forward base for smelting yet will allow us to transport it to another base to work with if desired.

  13. I would love if iron gate made it possible to teleport with ores of all kind but instead made some kind of sea/ocean biomoes more like kraken with items you could not teleport with or something like that. The hardcore grinding with iron for me is the worst part of the game for sure with all the mods in swamp, the darkness, the need for boat and more lol

  14. I think ill stay away from using the "cheaty" method. Its not a mechanic to transport your ores, or to specifically bypass the transportation barrier that comes with ore, but rather to facilitate moving from worlds if the seed were bad. It might be in the game, but it seems like its not intended to be such a big shortcut. Play as you like though! I'll be sailing around with those awesome trumpets!

  15. Just be smart where you place your base, make it all accessible via boat and you are fine…
And P.S. don't waste time digging the channel if you base is not in plains, mine is high up location and wasted hours trying to dig a direct line via boat…

  16. The transportation is a mechanic of the gameplay. If you could tp ores there wouldn't be any reason to have a boat or wagon with storage in my opinion. There wouldn't be any supply runs at all. You can already build a portal to home from anywhere and use that to transfer anything at anytime aside from ores. I think having a transportation requirement is cool.

  17. I definitely use the logout method and actually find it very fun. I think it's dope that you can have different servers and travel within worlds. Makes the game cooler to me, I love having my "haven server" with just a little shack and workbenches at a cool spot by the sea.

  18. This was so damn helpfull because I did not know whether I wanted to start a new game or just carry on with what I had since my world was REALLY crap. Had no idea really that the character and the world was separate "lel.. I know".. Now I will be transferring all the stuff to a new seed.. one that does not have 11 islands..

  19. I mean if you are going to use the world mule exploit, you could quickly just use the debug mode to fly it back to you main base. That's the way I do it. I fly via areas that I have already explored so I am not cheat exploring. Just my thoughts.

  20. I started a solo game, and I wanted to NOT do the logout method, but I think the grind sometimes to even find a new area to farm can be daunting. I think I will be doing the logout method still. Wanted to take it by ship or cart, but the long trips are just too much.

  21. It was a good feeling to load my longship up with a boat load of iron and sail it back. I did discover the log out method later on which I now I se for pretty much just iron. Either way it’s a slow paced game and great all the way through.
