  1. Watching your vid just a bit late, been trying Valheim for the last week and it looks very promising, I'd love to see you create content around it! P.s. I think your first pronunciation was correct, val-high-m I think from the nordic roots
    thanks for the content!

  2. Yup, Valheim (wahl-hime) is a good game, and perfectly playable even though it's Early Access (it's buggy, of course, but it's not so bad). And I like these games in general and don't find them particularly prone to scams (funny that, coming from somebody who mostly provides content supporting Raid, which is the scammiest game I've ever encountered). Minecraft is my favourite and I've played it since its early days, more than a decade now, still not bored. I doubt this one will rise to that level, but the building system is still pretty nice, and I like that there is a skill system too. I am more interested in building and exploring than I am in the fighting of enemies, so how much I'll enjoy it will depend on how easily I can emphasize the building vs how much I'll be distracted by foes interfering.

The graphics don't bother me at all because realism is overhyped IMO; I am more affected by the atmosphere any graphics provide, no matter how stylized. Again, Minecraft is a good example; despite the blocky voxel graphics it provides amazing immersion. Or The Long Dark — not blocky, but much more stylized than this, but even more atmospheric. I've sat here turning up the heat because the permanent winter in that game made me cold.

I'm glad Valheim is doing so well; rather than being scams a lot of Early Access games are characterized by developers who bit off more than they can chew, and don't make enough money to allow them to really throw themselves full-time into development. Once you sell millions, that's much less of a concern. $20 is cheap for a game that you own and that provides more than 5 hours of entertainment. What's a first-run movie cost? Put it in perspective.

  3. Good start, too. Breeding boars is a really solid idea to provide yourself with meat and leather scraps early on instead of just relying on hunting (my guess based on other games would be to feed them their favourite foods in order to breed them).

Glad you're playing this! I was just about to unsub since I am fed up with Raid, but if you're gonna make a series of this, I'll stay.
