Valheim – Motte and Bailey Concentric Hybrid Castle Build

In this Valheim video, i build, from scratch, an entire castle fortress on a small series of coastal hills in a plains biome. This castle not only looks cool, but is the perfect defensive setup, and will protect you from greylings, orcs, greydwarfs, trolls, deathsquitos, shamans, brutes, drakes, and even the grim reaper. I build it mostly out of stone, with some pallisade walls for aesthetic appearances. It only has three structures, a main living tower, a workshop, and a fallback keep/ armory. I guess, it is a mix of a motte and bailey style castle and a concentric castle.

Valheim is an open world survival sandbox video game by the Swedish developer Iron Gate, released in early access on 2 February 2021 for Windows and Linux on Steam.

The premise of the game is that players are Vikings in an afterlife where they have to craft tools, build shelters and fight enemies to survive. The game uses stylized 3D graphics with a third-person perspective and a combat system inspired by action games. Co-operative gameplay with up to nine people and optional PvP gameplay are also supported.

The game was a surprise hit. A few days after its release, it had sold a million copies and became the third most played game and the best-selling game on Steam.

The valkyries have ferried your soul to the tenth norse world as a custodian, where you must adventure to the ends of the realm, from the deepest forest to the highest mountain peak, slaying beasts of myth and legend feared by Odin himself. You will craft powerful weapons, build unyielding castles and sail longships towards the horizon to prove yourself to the Allfather, and certainly die trying!

A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim.

A beautiful, procedurally-generated world awaits you. Venture into deep dark forests, climb snow-peaked mountains and marvel at lush valleys. Take to the seas on a mighty longship, but be wary of sailing too far…

Raise your own viking mead halls, houses, castles, and more with our powerful construction interface. From knarrs to imposing warships, build legendary vessels to conquer the seas and discover new lands.

Battle the mythical beasts of the tenth world and animal wildlife in punishing dodge & block based combat.

Forge increasingly powerful weapons and armour as you advance. Craft food and mead to maintain your health.

From the highest mountain peak to the deepest swamp, each environment presents unique challenges and foes.

Valheim supports independent, player-hosted servers and as many worlds as you wish to create, because no one wants to continuously die alone.

  1. This was very cool. It would also be really cool if you would do a norse / Anglo Saxon walled hill village build. Something like edoras from lord of the rings, or like Whoterun from Skyrim.

  2. Too fast. half the video looks like fireworks, the other half is indistinguishable. But it does look great at the end!
If you want to show us the process, make this 12 minute video a 30+ minute video. It's great, I'd like to see how you did parts of it. But in this state, I'm skipping to the end.
