It’s the BIG PC game of the moment. In this video, Alex Battaglia gets to grips with Valheim, discusses what sets it apart and then produces optimised settings aimed at delivering a consistent 60fps at 1080p resolution on the one of the most popular GPUs of all – the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060.

No fast vsync on my GTX 1060.
that's really helpful
I appreciate the 1060 being used instead of unicorn cards. But, I don't know how many people are rocking 10-cores with a 1060. We usually see i5-8400/1060 pairings on DF.
Perhaps a follow up featuring i5-8400, 10400, and 10600K at the top of intel with Ryzen 5 2600, 3600, and 5600X topping off AMD.

And, while I'm dreaming why not throw in i5-2500K, i5-7400, i7-3770 and FX-8350, R3-1200, R5-1500X. …I know all of this won't happen. But, I would like to see a 4-core thrown in the mix.🤞
What is Fast Sync and how is it better than regular v-sync?
The hype about this game is ridiculously high…
Well, even with a 1060 you feature another 500-700 bucks card. The market is broken…
Best game rever best best ilove pc gaming
Wtf the gtx 1060 faster than the rx 580?? By that margin wierd.
I am the RX 580 guy. I refunded the game. There is just too much stuttering or screen tearing to my liking to enjoy this game, even at my own optimized settings or lower. Even on the lowest of low settings @ 720p – and the game look absolutely horrendous on that setting, mind you – there was (micro) stuttering. So this game is definitely broken in that department. Thanks for confirming!
Gonna buy this game again when it is out of early access or at least the stuttering is fixed.
People are being happy about 1060 being featured while I can’t wrap my head around that a game like this wants you to have a GPU like 950 at minimum
This games does not look fun at all
Although I finally just recently got a 3080, for the vast majority of my life I was stuck with more average level hardware like the 1050ti. I'm sure a lot of people including my past self appreciate these types of videos
You got me watching the whole video. Thumbs up 👍
What is this fast v-sync wizardry?! Has this been an option all this time?
I've always had ingame v-sync off as it seems to give me lag, I'm going to try the nVidia fast for as many games as I can now!
The game looked really interesting and like something I'd want to play, but then you mentioned early access, I'm done with playing any games in early access it just ruins the experience playing them before they are complete.
They also introduced a vulcan API mode. Use this to enable the option! This improved my frames by a noticeable amount

Indie are better than AAA
I'll wait till Devs can get vsync working properly.
This game makes my 5600xt sound like a jet engine 😮
Comparing this game to the Elder Scroll games is sad.
Another Early Access game that will never be fixed and optimized and looking very bad.
Game will reach 1.0 in 3-4 years and will be dead.
Devs don't even talk about fixes and optimization, and any questions about those problems is skipped by them.
More videos like this Alex! Really useful and kinda cool if you glue together your optimized settings section with FPS graph comparisons for rx580 and gtx1060.
Real Viking were pagan , did human sacrifices and love demons the very name of the game is evil
I hate motion blur and depth of field (especially depth of field) in games on PC. Is there any "bonus" to actually have this in games? Well, besides catering to consoles?
Sees "Worf Moghson" as character name
Warrior's nod
That is acceptable.
WHO CARES ITS PC…….
Not much can be done about the occasional stuttering since the game engine has to empty the memory heap and Unity halts execution while doing so.
It's odd. I used to get excellent performance when I first started (90ish FPS) on an RTX 2080Super. However, once I built my base and explored the world, performance varied swiftly between 45 and 144.
I understand the game is in Early Access though, and it's probably one of the very few things I could "complain" about this game. Other than that, I am thoroughly impressed with Valheim.
man i love DF true gaming friendly and info
Looks like a PSX game lol
Did you just call a GTX1060 Mid range? Is it 2017?
sigueme y te sigo
It's interesting that they've decided to go back to the GTX 1060 as a reference mid-range GPU. They've been using the RTX 2060 for a while now, I think. For the Nioh 2 video I just watched they tested on a 2060 Super. Not exactly a typical mid-range card in my opinion. It was really a 1070 replacement when it came out and the 20 series cards were never super popular so many people stuck to their older cards and now there's this shortage thing. But, at the same time the 1060 has been getting on in years.
In any case, I'm not complaining. I'm just thinking aloud. I still have a 1060 laptop myself 😀
Everytime my game stutters I notice its also saving the game world at the same time.
