In this Valheim tips and tricks video guide I will show you how to get the secret Sea Serpent shield in Valheim. This is one of the best looking shields in Valheim and counts as a tower shield. The best shield in Valheim is currently the black metal tower shield. To craft it I will show you how to get sea serpent scales location, how to get iron location and how to get fine wood so you can craft yourself a sea serpent shield and upgrade it to level 3. A tip to get sea serpent scales you must kill sea serpents. The reason why sea serpent scales and the trophy is so hard to get is because they will sink to the bottom of the ocean if you kill the sea serpent at sea (only the sea serpent meat floats), to stop this happening you need to get the sea serpents on land, to do this you need an abyssal harpoon which can be used to hook the sea serpent and drag it onto land, then once killed on land you can pickup the sea serpent trophy and scales as well as the sea serpent meat. Another tip and trick you can use it the dragr bow, the best bow in the game to damage the serpent in this combat gameplay in Valheim. Note that the tower shield cannot parry attacks like the small shield so the best shield type in valheim is the buckler shield for its utility.

Allowing the serpent scale shield to parry would be the best buff for it, since it would make it viable as a hybrid between tower shield and buckler. That being said, i want serpent scale armor for the aesthetic alone.
So the sea serpents spawn where you found them instead of just anywhere in the ocean. Very interesting. I wonder if you have a video on finding and farming krakens.

I encountered a serpent early game and it almost sank me, i tried to escape and ended up killing it with my bow at a coastline then i made the shield. Only now do i realize how lucky i was haha.

You don't actually need the harpoon if you have enough patience. You just need to kill it in shallow waters, like, close to land, and then swim to get the items. If you can't reach it, but your hoe can, just use it on the ground

ESO unrelated topic to the video, but in skyrim I have miraak's robe and avsorb 30% magicka perk so my question is how do I stop absorbing my own conjuration spells It always takes 3 times to conjure a thrall it's ridiculous pls make a video on this if you know a fix are just tell me in the comments please!!!

I created a pond area right by my base and dragged 4 serpants into it, they just swim around looking pretty cool.. Occasionally one or two seem to despawn but eventually they show back up…
It looks rediculous cause they all glitch into one another since it's kind of a small area for as big as they are..
Serpent shield isn't as good as black metal shield
This must happen at specific locations maybe. I criss cross the wide open ocean to travel to The Elder Boss on a damn far away huge island. First in a Karve. The boat wasn’t there when return after boss hunting, the mobs maybe destroyed it in area. But an epic long trip and adventure ensued to return home on an island of just Black Forest and Swamp. Long story short returned home on a raft and didn’t see any Sea Serpent and probably a good thing on the slow ass raft.

Couldn’t you just harpoon the items off the bottom of the sea floor
the real benefit is that the movement penalty is only 10% instead of 20% like other tower shields

If you are near land this will work. Putting your guard up in a defense stance will let you walk under water….
